I enjoyed this book a great deal. I love her style for plot. She doesn't drag out what is going to happen next. If it seems like the obvious thing to happen, it just happens and quickly. If there is a surprise, then that happens naturally and is explored to the depth it should
There were a number of times I felt, "Hey she can't be doing that now, there's not enough book left."
So the story is rich.
The characters are well done, but not super deep. Mostly they just deal with tragedy and don't wallow in it like a lot of other books. They are interesting and active and have secrets. She doesn't drag a character around because she created them either. If it makes more sense for a character to run away from an upcoming problem, even though it takes them out of the action, they do. That's refreshing.
It wasn't until I got to the end that I thought there must be a sequel. I had no idea it was part of a series. Does make me want to look up the others in the series....less

The other night I wanted a testosterone fantasy and Kildar was what I chose to re-read.
Ringo's books are interesting, in a macho military SF kind of way. This book actually is much more personal than some of his other books.
It chronicles the further adventures of Mike from Ghost. I don't generally recommend Ghost unless you are very comfortable with BSDM. If you don't know what that means, you aren't comfortable with it.
Kildar is a sequal and really the first book in a new series, though it shares a few characters. Mike, now rich for killing terrorists in previous books, stumbles upon a valley in Georgia - the country not the state - that has a clan of celtic warriors looking for a leader. Which he turns out to be.
It is still pornographic, just not as much porn as Ghost. So if explicit sex bothers you stay away. But it has all the hallmarks of male fantasy. Super soilder SEAL. Now super rich. Hookers with a heart of gold and one of coal. A harem of teenage virgins. Ancient warrior races.
So in a sense it is fun.
It is also boring in places where the author got excited telling you about highland games, or the cool gadget the military should use but doesn't.
It also ends in the middle. Seems he got to a page count and went "Oh, need to through in a battle so I can end the book". Insert really tiny fight - for Ringo books - and boom, done.
Overall fun, but not for everyone....less

I'm not a sales person, but I found this book very practical. It lived up to it's name and contained no B.S. No fluff. No warm fuzzies either. Just the strait dope on how to do sales better.
On of the core principles in the book was you should be selling to people who want to buy, not just anybody. If you don't open well, you won't close. If you have to work at or "hard-sell" or try to trick the person at the end, you have done the beginning wrong.
Also there was a bunch of stuff on just how to communicate well.
Only draw backs are that Kennedy is a ludite when it comes to technology. But as he points out the stuff he teaches works just as well as it always has.
I'd recommend this book to any sales person. Matter of fact I'd wish a lot of the sales people I've dealt with had read it.
