And this intersection with the dark history of one of the earlies known serial killers who operated at that same time in the same area. Reads very well. While presented as non-fiction I'm dubious that all the events presented could have happened to a single individual. I accept the events having been in fact I kept having flashes of Forest Gump having happened to be in attendance at every significant event over the span of a life time. Enjoyed the book. Russo's Nobody's Fool is the funniest book I've ever read and one of my all time favorites. Among only a few I've reread a few times which I don't generally do. Anyway... had to try some of his other works. EF too is a great, warm and fun book. Highly recommended. NF is still my favorite but I really enjoy Russo's work. Lighter reading. After having read Guns, Germs and Steel I wanted to pick up this additional book of Jared's. I've read mixed reviews but I enjoyed it. The why's and wherefores for the establishment and development of communities of people. What sustains them and what are the contributors to their decline with a great deal of focus on environmental conditions and human impact on these. ]]>
