"Perhaps, after all, romance did not come into one’s life with pomp and blare, like a gay knight riding down; perhaps it crept to one’s side like an old friend through quiet ways; perhaps it revealed itself in seeming prose, until some sudden shaft of illumination flung athwart its pages betrayed the rhythm and the music; perhaps . . . perhaps . . . love unfolded naturally out of a beautiful friendship, as a golden-hearted rose slipping from its green sheath."

Hey TJ,
I'm LOVING your reviews, absolutely captivating, and you'll notice i've added a bunch of your rec's to my to-read (admittedly obnoxiously long, but i'm a curious sort).
Schaumburg is a western Chicagoland suburb. We are about 2.5 hours from the great mecca of Champaign-Urbana, at least, in my family it is a great mecca as we have several alums - i, unfortunately, am not one of them. But, I love UofI nonetheless.
I would love to hear your thoughts on the horrible Chief controversy... though I'm sure your perspective would be skewed by the unfortunate inability to participate in the sacred ceremony since it has been banned. We loved the Chief and were so sorry and downright angered to see him go.

Thank you for the add, Ms. Elizabeth! :)
I'm liking these books you've chosen...
By the way, where is Schaumburg? I'm moving to Urbana-Champaign this August.
