I don't often use this site but I enjoyed this book so much I thought I'd share.
This author is an ex-RAF pilot/ex-journalist who researches meticulously and provides an explicit, step-by-step, behind-the-scenes account of his topic (usually international intrigue, this time it's Islamic terrorism). The novel is more historical than fiction (at least seems that way). It details the recent history of Afganistan, Pakistan, Iraq, the Taliban, the British and Soviet wars in Afganistan, Al Qaeda, radical fundamentalist Islam from Trinidad & Tobago to Indonesia, the CIA, MIA, SAS, ISI, etc.
Fascinating--it gets my enthusiastic stamp of approval (it was a 2-night-read for me).
