<about>I'm an editor, author, and filmmaker based in Austin, Texas. I grew up in McAllen, Texas, the youngest son of writer Jan Epton Seale and composer and conductor Carl Seale. I earned a degree in radio-TV-film from The University of Texas at Austin in 1989.

After a series of odd jobs that included fronting a classic rock cover band, I landed a job with my hometown newspaper, The Monitor, where I wrote feature stories, humor columns, and social commentary.

In 1992, I moved back to Austin and the following year became editor of my alma mater’s alumni magazine, The Alcalde, where I continue today. My work allows me to write about fascinating people from all walks of life as well as broad social issues.

In 2005, I wrote, co-produced and co-directed my first feature film, The Secret of Suranesh, a spiritual epic, and I'm currently developing new film projects, both narrative and documentary. I later adapted the film’s story as a novella.

In 2006, I published his first book: The Hull, the Sail, and the Rudder: My Search for the Boundaries of the Body Mind and Soul. I write and speak extensively on spirituality, and in particular, the Bahá’í Faith. In 2007, I published True Freedom and the Wisdom of Virtue: How the Baha'i Principles of Personal Morality Make Life Better.

I'm also an avocational guitarist. I live in Austin with my wife, Kirstin, and three sons, Andrew, Cameron, and Ian.</about>
