Anne Osterlund Hi Alicia,

Robert & Aurelia are thrilled! It's been a rather rough expedition, and they appreciate all good news!

Bhumi Hi Anne! I wanted to let you know that I just got Academy 7 from the library and hope to read it soon!

message 113: by Alicia

Alicia I really loved Aurelia. I am a media specialist at a high school and have suggested it to many of my students and all have returned great reviews. I am looking forward to reading Academy 7 during the break.

Hi Kathrine,

There aren't any translations yet. It is available online at all the bookstores, including Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. on the To Purchase My Books page on my website: www.anneosterlund.com
if that helps. Aerin, Dane & I wish you the best of luck!

Ana Hey Anne thanks for the friend request!

Christina I just finished Academy 7 this week and loved it. I also wasn't expected it to be futuristic (sometimes I just dive into a book when I get it instead of reading the cover again). I also don't usually like that type of story or at least thought I didn't until reading Academy 7. I hope it becomes a series. I look forward to reading your other book Aurelia and its sequel.

Hi Amelia,

I definitely still teach. 26 sixth graders. Monday. Tuesday. Wednesday. Thursday. We are trying desperately to wrap up our myths (which incorporate a span of humor, sci-fi, fantasy, and even an occasional Greek-style tale with gods & goddesses) before coming back in January to plunge into Macbeth!

Anne
(whose plans to have her students type today derailed due to freezing rain, but who bravely made her way to the grocery store about 2:00p.m. to buy sparkling cider for the staff potluck tomorrow)

Amelia, the pragmatic idealist I just read your biography--I didn't realize that you were a teacher, also! That's really cool! And 6th grade is the age I want to teach! Are you still a teacher, or do you write full-time? Anyway, I think it's awesome that you're a teacher. That's really inspiring :)

Anne Osterlund Hi Mindy,

Well, I just bought the fourth Sword & Shield book (they are very fast reads), and I plan to read it as soon as I finish Treason's Shore, so I will probably review both when they are done & maybe the first books in each series for friends who haven't read either.

The concept, though, is a world where there are an unusual number of natural disasters, only to be held back by "swords," people born & trained to use their special powers to stop the disasters. However, if a sword tries to defeat such a disaster alone, the use of the magic will kill him or her. Unless, he or she has a "shield," a person born and trained to wield the power to protect the shield. The catch--there is only one shield for every sword--a magical connection that happens when the right sword & shield meet for the first time.

Our heroine is a shield. A very calm. Rational. Ordinary shield. With the ill fortune to become magically attached--for life--to the most popular, handsome, stuck-on-himself sword from the academy. She's never met him. She doesn't want him (at least she doesn't want to want him). But she's stuck with him.

Hola Libro Joven!

Anne

message 94: by Carmen

Carmen Thanks for adding me as a friend! I still have to read your book because it sounds amazing. When I do get a chance to, I'd be sure to let you know. :)

message 93: by Mindy

Mindy Oh my gosh! Every time I go to the bookstore, I stand there contemplating whether or not I should buy Perfect Chemistry! I guess next time, I'll get it :) What's the Inda series about? Haha I sure hope you're loving it, since you're all the way on the fourth book!

I haven't. What're the Sword and Shield books about? Oh, fantasy is a beautiful thing.

Libro Joven Hi!

Perfect Chemistry was fabulous! I managed to read it despite my deadline which is hugely impressive. I'm reading the 4th book in the Inda series by Sherwood Smith right now and am loving it, though I'm going to need to reach Christmas Break in order to crack through 600 more pages.

Have you read the Sword and Shield books by Moira Moore? They are a blast. What I call fantasy fluff.

Anne

Thanks for the add.

Any books you've been dying to read or are reading right now that're wicked good?

message 76: by Anne

Anne Osterlund Hi Bhumi,
Not worried. Have much bigger worries such as is there any furniture in the inn my characters are entering today? And why is that I'm sensing there's not?

Anne

message 75: by Bhumi

Bhumi Me too, including Aurelia and Academy 7. But don't worry, I'll get to them.

message 74: by Anne

Anne Osterlund LOL, I have a million books I haven't gotten around to yet, but they are gleefully filling up my blue notepad so I won't forget them.

Anne

message 73: by Jen

Jen Hi Anne, thanks for the friend add. I'm ashamed to say that I still haven't gotten round to reading Aurelia (I will! Eventually!), but I'm pleased to see we've a lot of books in common. ;)

Cheers,
Jen

message 69: by Kirsty

Kirsty Hey Anne

Thanks for the friend request, I've just ordered Academy 7 so it's now 4th in my to-read pile! I've never really read any science-fiction before but then again I've never been that pulled in by a book synopsis before. I can't wait to read it and will review it when I do.
Thanks again, Kirsty xoxox

message 68: by Anne

Anne Osterlund Hi Kate,

Thank you for the comments. I very much hope I have the chance to answer all your questions!

Anne

(Aurelia says that obviously you want to know the rest of her story and not to worry because she has no intention of letting me stop until she is finished speaking). She can be very opinionated.
