21001 Perhaps one of the worst books of all time.

Any others?

392439 My friends like his books. I've not been able to get into them. And Snuff has a premise I have no interest in reading about. He should have just called it The Last Gang Bang and saved people the trouble of reading the blurb.

627944 Not sure about all time for me. (There are millions of bad books out there just waiting for me to buy.) Definitely his worst book yet I feel. He seems to be just churning out the most "shocking" thing he can think of to live up to his reputation. Which is sad because I did love his earlier work and later stuff is just besmirching my joy for them.

861202 I am actually reading this book right now. I haven't finished it yet. It is so utterly appalling at times but I can't put it down. Its disgusting, would not recommend reading it while eating it and yet I'm totally loving it. I can't put my finger on it, I think I'm just curious to see how far and how disgusting it can get. I read a chapter out of Haunted that still haunts me to this day, I dont think I could read the book in its entirety but Snuff is just disgusting enough with enough of a story in it to keep me interested. Ill check back when I'm done with it though!

909416 Based on everything I have heard about it (and I'm glad I read reviews and comments before considering it), I am not going to bother with Snuff. I had read everything Pahlahnuik had written, loved it, and was really looking forward to Haunted - and damn, I am still scarred just from the first story alone. I recently read Rant and now I'm convinced that he has lost his mojo completely. He's gone from being able to craft a great story that just happens to have a number of shocking elements to the kid that screams "Kotex! Weiner! Turd! Vagina!" at the dinner table to get your attention.

436793 Seriously, I could not agree more. I loved Fight Club, and others, I thought Lullaby was such a unique and interesting story.
Then enter Haunted stage right... besides the fact that I was grossed out to the extreme, it DID seem as if he just wanted to live up to the "pushing-the-limits" persona that he had built with actual intellegent work.
All I had to do was read the jacket of Snuff to see that this was following in Haunted's direction.
Penis, cum, blah, blah, aren't you just edgy?
I was bored by the back jacket cover.

1432413 This will be hard to write. Snuff was, just, gross. And that's the weird part. I enjoy porn because I think it's funny. But reading about porn? That's just odd and a little nasty. I suppose it's because I prefer my porn animated (hentai for anyone curious). So, yea I can honestly say Snuff was the first Palahniuk book that I really disliked.

1432879 Chuck doesn't seem to like the written word, which makes reading his books difficult. His writing is so choppy and jarring, and while I originally assumed that was just a stylistic choice, ALL his works are choppy and jarring which makes one wonder if he can write smoothly at all. It also doesn't help that he's only ever written one novel and just keeps slapping different titles on it.
