I have just finished re-reading Hamlet again, this time with my daughter. It is not her favorite of Shakespeare's play. To tell the truth, it is not my favorite, either. As I re-read it, I am struck by how unnecessary Ophelia seems to me. I also find her kind of uninteresting, with her inflated sense of drama.

I am also struck by Shakespeare's sense of drama. He sure packed a lot of stuff in one play, didn't he? There was enough material there for a good two plays!

Has anyone else read this one yet?
