Maggie wrote: "I'm ready, I'm ready!! Do you think they will be posted here or in a new thread?"The challenge is posted already. :) In a new thread.
I predict that I will spend most of tomorrow refreshing and refreshing and refreshing the group page!!
Fallon, were ahead by lots and lots..i think we have to wait till Monday for our little bit of excitement! we have to wait till Monday for the Oscars too.. :( boo!
I'm counting the hours also. I didn't find the Winter Challenge until after Christmas. It's been so much fun! I'm waiting and reading. ha,ha..
okay normally in two hours and 0 minutes it is sunday...i guess that doesn't mean I will be able to know it by that time, right? Just hope it won't be evening ebcause I want to ceck it a bit in the afternoon...hmmmmmm Cynthiiiiiaaaaaaaaaaa
Fallon wrote: "Is Australia ahead of you guys or behind? I don't want to wait until monday!"Australia is ahead of most places, so probably ahead. :)

Sara we had read a crime novel this challenge.
A book that takes place in France is Paris in April. It is a fast read but not too bad. Also Kate Mosse has wonderful, long historical books that happen in France. She does a great job in having the stories told in present and far past like in The labyrinth and Sepulchre. Loved both of them.
I know it's WAY too late to suggest things, but someone mentioned reading a book with a really long title, right? Like maybe 10 words or more?
I'd also really like to read a thriller. Maybe we could do a horror or thriller category?
I think it would also be fun to read a "crime" book... and book that has the name of a crime or maybe even a weapon in it, like "kill", "gun", "knife", "theft", "murder", etc. I think it'd be pretty easy to find a book like that, so maybe a 5 or 10 pointer max.
If those ideas don't make it, I'll suggest them for Summer. Both of those categories kind of seem like beach-reads, you know?
On another note... Paris in the Spring?? If that one makes it, I'm going to have to get some advice on books to read. I read a lot of books that take place in England... not so much France... *shrugs*
oh yeah Paris in spring time is cute - plus 1001 reads are going to do a group read on a book with paris in the title that i might give a bash
I'm SOOO EXCITED! And I've decided on my 25-point task, if I can ever finish the last 3 books! :) I have a lot of reading to do this week! It won't be too bad... for me... :)
My real-life book club is supposed to read Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl this month, so there you go!
I've heard of The Book Thief but haven't gotten it yet or even taken the time to learn more about it. I think I should because I definitely do read a lot/own a lot of books on the subject.
I can't wait to start- I get more excited as each day goes by!!
Because my birthday is in April, go check out my book list in my challenge thread, pick a number at random between 1 and 278 and read it. :P
♡ Eva ♡ wrote: "I definitely like jen's suggestion- being that I have a bunch of them helps too! :)"
I, too, have a bunch of books that would qualify for that category. :) I think there are a lot of really great books that fall under it. I had forgotten about The Book Thief being one of them. It has been lingering on my shelf for awhile!
I definitely like jen's suggestion- being that I have a bunch of them helps too! :)
It's a different kind of task too- not the average run of the mill task.
Alright, I have a last-minute suggestion -- don't know if it's too late to make one! I'd save it for the next challenge, but it's definitely a spring one:
In honor of Holocaust Remembrance Day (April 21) read a fiction or nonfiction book about the Holocaust.
That is so funny Sara! I was ordering off of amazon and B&N two nights ago and I was holding back myself. I ordered the ones I just couldn't live without (this week) and made myself wait for the rest until I see this challenge. LOL
Ruth wrote: "so what if you have not participated in the Winter Challenge, are they seperate events or is there some sort of carryover?"
The only "carryover" is that if you complete the Winter Challenge, you get to pick a category for the Spring Challenge, but everyone starts over with the reading.
I'm excited to pick all new books. I went to two bookstores yesterday (local used book store and half-price books), and was looking around. I saw a bunch of great stuff, but I kept thinking, "I can't buy anything! I don't know what the new categories are going to be!" :)
so what if you have not participated in the Winter Challenge, are they seperate events or is there some sort of carryover?
I'm excited too! I'm in the middle of going through all of my books and sorting them alphabetically. That'll only make it easier to look through and pick my choices! LOL Hopefully I'll get done in time- it's slow going. :D
I know I am patiently waiting. Can't wait to pick out the books I am going to read for this challenge... that is the fun part!
I think I'm going to work backward. I have a few books I really want to read, so I think I'll come up with a category for one of them. Fortunately, the list will probably be posted before I finish up my books, so I can wait to decide. :)
Good luck Sara! I dropped out a little while ago because I knew I had to read some books (for friends) that couldn't be used for any task.
I'm looking forward to the new one though and I'm dead set on finishing it this time! LOL
♡ Eva ♡ wrote: "Have three people finished it as of right now does anyone know? "
Bonnie just finished, so yes. We're at three finishers now. I don't know about the other people who are up on the list, but I have every intention of finishing. I only have 4 books left. I just need to think of a good task....
Thanks Susanna- I was just wondering about that..I stopped my challenge a about a week ago because I knew I wouldn't get done anything else that could count.
I'm definitely going to try harder for this one!
That's cool about the 25 point tasks- I'll have to make a stronger attempt at finishing this time.
I was reading a lot of books during the winter challenge that couldn't be used- it was my first one so I wasn't aware of everything that goes with it.
My goal for this one won't be to just get as far as I can- it'll be to finish it! :D
Cynthia wrote: "...if more than 3 people complete the challenge then we will have more than 3 25 point tasks.
Ooooohhhh... I see...
I don't know if this was mentioned, but read a book being published/released in March, April, or May.
Cynthia wrote: "Cassie I'll post the task list on the 22nd - that will give everyone a week to line up the books they wish to use and ask preliminary questions. I'll post the 25 point challenges as the winter cha..."
Oh, so it is almsot time to freak out again!!!!!! yahooooooo!!!!
That is definitely a cool part of the challenge for me also. I had a lot of fun pulling my choices out last time and seeing what I didn't have and had to get..of course. LOL
Thanks!
