My list looks something like this:

The Painted Man (or the Warded Man in the US -- it is already out in the UK, not US though)
The Republic of Thieves
The Judging Eye

1805316 I'm looking forward to

Empire in Black and Gold by Adrian Tchaikovsky-epic fantasy with insect people, if I ever see it in stores
The Republic of Thieves by Scott Lynch-I never did finish Red Seas Under Red Skies. It disappointed me, but I'll have to see what people think of this one before buying it.
The Warded Man by Peter V. Brett
Warbreaker by Brandon Sanderson-Yep, I'm likely to buy anything he writes now. :)
Nights of Villjamur by Mark Charan Newton-epic fantasy set during an ice age, again if I ever see it in stores.
Best Served Cold by Joe Abercrombie-Another author I will likely buy whatever he writes.
Dragonseed by James Maxey-Third in his Dragon Age series.

695116 Modesitt is supposed to have a new Recluse book out soon. Can't wait for that.

Also, GR author S.A. Rule's new book is out in England, but not here yet. I loved the first book & can't wait to read the second.

I'm supposed to be getting Harris' # 6 & 7 of the Sookie Stackhouse novels from PaperBackSwap soon, too. That series is going surprisingly well.

My wife is re-reading Jordan's WOT series. We're hoping the last book will be published in time for her.

71698 I am sooo looking forward to Abarat Absolute Midnight. I finished the first two books in no time at all and have been waiting now for two years, uhggg. Last time this happened was with the Dark Tower series. I read the first three books and loved them, but the third ended in such a cliff-hanger and the fourth book was years to come that I lost interest. I just recently decided to go back to that series and I am struggling through the fourth book, took about 500 pages to get good. Anyways, yes, Abarat 3, that is what I can't wait to get my hands on.

756964 Many of the books I have been looking forward to reading are now out, so I am just looking forward to getting them read. :)

As far as upcoming books are concerned, I am looking forward to Turn Coat by Jim Butcher. I am also looking forward to the US editions of the rest of the Twilight Reign series.

I'm cautiously looking forward to The Wise Man's Fear, but there were enough issues with The Name of the Wind that it's not a huge deal for me.

1356784 I'm really looking forward to Lynch's Republic of Thieves - what a great anti-hero Locke is!

I'm also looking forward to the newest volume in David Weber's Safehold series. #3 is By Heresies Distressed and is due out in July 09. (It's SF, not fantasy, but a nice change from his usual stuff.)

I might also give the new OSC Pastwatch The Flood a try as well.

1042102 I'm looking forward to A Memory of Light, the final book in the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson.

message 9: by Kevin (new)

654176 I'm really excited about The Wise Man's Fear as I so loved Name of the Wind. I can't wait for it to come out. Otherwise, I'm engaged in a multi-year project of clearing my bookshelves of a tremendous back log of purchasing! :o)

message 10: by Elizabeth (new)

629344 There's a new book by Jasper Fforde - Shades of Grey A Novel. It's released in July. I'm not sure if it's going to be fantastic, really creepy, or completely flat.

message 11: by Josh (new)

221650 I'm eagerly awaiting Republic of Theives by Scott Lynch. Also anticipating Wise Man's Fear and (as with countless impatient fantasy readers) A Dance With Dragons.

message 12: by Robin (new)

1042102 I am most intrigued about a new release due out Feb 9th.

Drood A Novel by Dan Simmons I just read about it on the Fantasy Book Critic blog and as a lover of Charles Dickens it sounds fascinating. Here is what they wrote:
“Drood” by Dan Simmons. Release Date: February 9, 2009. Just as he did in The Terror, Dan Simmons draws impeccably from history to create a gloriously engaging and terrifying narrative. Based on the historical details of Charles Dickens' life and narrated by Wilkie Collins (Dickens' friend, frequent collaborator, and Salieri-style secret rival), “Drood” explores the still-unsolved mysteries of the famous author's last years and his final, unfinished work: The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Chilling, haunting, and utterly original, “Drood” is Dan Simmons at his powerful best…

1803452 This year, I can't wait for these three to be released -

Unseen Academicals
Shades of Grey
Nyphron Rising

@Blackrose - The Graveyard Book is worth getting in the hard cover. It's amazing. Neil at his best!

1209800 @Libby - so I happened to get a 40% off coupon from Borders in my email today, so I took your advice and bought 'The Graveyard Book'. I'll read it after 'The Meaning of Night'. It better be good. ;)

message 22: by Libby (new)

1803452 Money well spent - Neil at his best! Enjoy!

373336 @Elizabeth - Shades of Grey is now on my list of books to look out for! Even if it falls flat (which I really hope it doesn't!), it'll be fascinating to see how he pulls off that kind of society! Sort of like The Giver, eh?

I don't know when the rest of these are coming out, but I can't wait for Juliet Marillier's Heart's Blood, as well as the follow-up stories to Sevenwaters and Wildwood.

message 24: by Martha (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 I'm looking forward to Republic of Thieves, The Wise Man's Fear, A Dance With Dragons, Shadow Magic and Bastards and Knives. I'm also hoping the next volume of WoT comes out soon and the next Dresden. Turn Coat was really good.

Is she coming out with another Sevenwaters? Would love to read that.

message 26: by Ori (new)

373336 Yep! It'll be about Sibeal, I think, if that's the name of the seerish daughter. It's called Song of the Island. And that's supposed to have a sequel, too (yay!). You can read about updates at her website. She's been recently diagnosed with cancer, though. :( I hope she'll pull through.

Ooh, I can't wait for this now. Though, it's not being published till December now.

I also can't wait for Unseen Academicals! :)

Oh My Goodness! I don't believe it. For real, she's actually finishing that story? :)
