Isabel Without it being porn, of course.
The plot doesn't seem substantial enough to support a movie all on its own.
Most of the content is sex scenes.

Suzanne the dialogue for Anastasia will be horridly repetitive
-oh my
-my sex
-there
-my inner goddess just said oh my when he touched me...there right on my sex

Bobbie Jo It's true, it's going to be one raunchy movie if they base the movie totally after the first book. Maybe they should just combine books 1 & 2 for the movie. Haven't started book 3 yet, but it seems to me that the storyline picks up in book 2.

Michelle If they do make it into a movie it's not going to as explicit and it might ruin it, but for those who haven't read the book are not going to know how much has been left out and it might not seem the same with all the details of erotism missed out.

Amy I'm guessing it will take a lot of work for a talented screenwriter to put this into a film format. I still don't see how it could avoid at least a NC-17 rating though.

S.L.J. Box office smash in it's first week, just like Twilight. Then the numbers will take a nose dive, the critics will slam it, it'll be a laughable movie at best and there will be several spoofs made about it.

This is getting repetative.

they haven't even started yet and people are already making fun of it. I've seen to many great books be ruined when made into movies and 50 shades isn't even a very good book(s).

Unfortunately this is exactly what I think is going to happen. I love the books but I can't see how they are going to able to make this without it being porn

message 9: by Courtney (new) - added it

Courtney I don't think they will be able to make it -if they stick to the book content- without it being porn.

They could very loosely base it on the story. Have a girl meet a guy in the same way, and start a love affair, and end up falling in love and whatnot. This is the only way I can think of them making it into a movie... Without it being porn.

Brittany Hayes Instead of a movie they should make it into a series on HBO or some other network. Theres no way it can be turned into a movie

message 11: by Joe (new) - rated it 3 stars

Joe hmmm.. in 3D animae on the planet Pandora where hopefully it will only be viewed

Ashley I would be surprised if a movie actually ends up getting made. There is a lot of hype right now but a screenwriter is going to struggle. I know of quite a few books that have sold the film rights but that never actually got produced.

Zander Vyne Just like 9 1/2 Weeks (and they will try for an R rating, but settle for an NC17)

Amanda i have been told that the movie will be based on twighlight fans

Totally agree! I think they will have to add some Hollywood Magic and add a plot ; ) Or maybe use the material for all three books and put it into one movie...

message 17: by Beth (new) - rated it 1 star

Beth It just shouldn't be. Instead of making a movie, they should move the trash that is 50 Shades back to fanfiction.net.... writing that horrific, characters that one-dimensional, and a plot so terrible it seems ripped right out of the brain of a sexually repressed frat boy high on some bad shwag should be free to read at the audience's discretion (with a warning label that its consumption has been attributed to the depletion of brain cells amongst readers).

But since that won't happen, here's to no-name actors getting more publicity for simply stating "sure, I would play Christian/Anna" than they have received for the entire history of their careers combined. Who cares about rioting in the Middle East when an actress from Pretty Little Liars thinks she just might be ready to embrace her darker side!

Ugh.

Taylor Napolsky They should make the movie...awesome. But what is the deal anyway, I never hear anything about the movie. It has potential to be better than the book in my opinion.

Louise Croasdaile Brittany wrote: "Instead of a movie they should make it into a series on HBO or some other network. Theres no way it can be turned into a movie"

I agree.
I just hope they will not show one disturbing scene, the one at a Georgia hotel bathroom.

S.L.J. I'm going to retract my previous post and say this won't be a box office smash. Not even for a week. The content will seriously limit the audience and there will probably be a whole host of better movies out at the same time.

I say leave this one between the pages, it's definately not for the big screen.

Agree. The Georgia Hotel room is nasty and I can't imagine them putting THAT in a movie!!!!!

Gabriella I think the book series would be best represented as a TV show. Like on HBO or Showtime. That way there can be multiple seasons, therefore no details should be overlooked. There is no way this book could be made into a movie. If it does become a movie I'd love to see how they accomplish it.

I know what scene you are referring too and I can bet that that scene WILL be in the movie, just because it's pushing the boundaries.

Annette It's been awhile since I read the books. What happened in the hotel bathroom in Georgia? Was that the tampon part??

Maggy Louise wrote: "Brittany wrote:

I swear I think I was one of the only few that wasn't disturbed by that scene........not sure what that says about me and my thought process.........LOL

Rebecca HBO should have pick up this as a series it would have been so much better!

It says that you are fine and it's the rest of the world that has issues. :)

The kid from Warm Bodies kept human brains in his pocket to snack on from time to time like they were a box of raisins. They kept that in the movie. They kept the poop pie storyline in The Help. They chopped and BBQ'd Frank Bennet and fed him to the racists in Fried Green Tomatoes.

....If Christian can whip her with a flogger, he can certainly take out her tampon for her and bathe with her.

I could not agree more.

Annette I thought it was the tampon scene everyone was talking about. All the girls at work were talking about how gross it was and I never spoke up because I didn't think it was gross. It is very unusual for a man to do that but it didn't bother me

Christina Teilmann Isabel wrote: "Without it being porn, of course.

Agreed. Even with all 3 books combined there's barely enough of a plot for 1 movie, let alone a book per movie.
The books can be summed up fairly quickly: She's a moron, he's controlling. She murmurs, he thrusts. There.

Dianne Well, we all know "sex sells". It has sold a lot of 50 Shades, the book. Very simple, it's got to be in the movie too.

Auhmanduh Brittany wrote: "Instead of a movie they should make it into a series on HBO or some other network. Theres no way it can be turned into a movie"

This has always been the more feasible option, especially for an HBO series (think True blood).

As other's have said I don't think it's possible to make it into an NC-17; the book is based on rough sex, remove that and you've got a girl and a guy dealing with every day issues.

ITA. One of the sexiest movies of all time, IMO, with very little nudity. Go figure ...

Billie Addison Amanda wrote: "i have been told that the movie will be based on twighlight fans"

Well 50 Shades was originally a Twilight fanfiction written by EL James... she changed the character names so that she could publish it.

Katherine It would be a sexy movie but.. reality-check! It would be very inappropriate for younger viewers like myself, but that didn't stop me from reading the book! Truth is, i hope they make the book series into a movie but question is.. how would they make it without it being too much?

James It'll go straight to video...or Lifetime Movie Network.

message 37: by Tiffany (last edited Sep 04, 2013 04:18AM) (new)

Tiffany This, like Twilight, is for entertainment only. There isn't any substance to it. I would much rather keep things in my imagination than to watch a soft-core HBO porn. If you are looking for this type of book with better writing check out; The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by Anne Roquelaure (Anne Rice).

Mary-Sarah Suzanne wrote: "the dialogue for Anastasia will be horridly repetitive

DAMN IT! Have you already seen a copy of the script?! Just kidding.

I wonder if we'll get head shots of this chick and inside we see her inner goddess and red in the face subconscious. It was adult Twilight, the majority of people enjoyed Twilight movies so this'll be no different.

message 39: by Rochelle (new) - added it

Rochelle If they're going to create a movie for 50 shades without it being porn, then it will be a completely different plot. It will be like one different movie and one different book. The same title but different plot. It will be ruined. Just like how they ruined Rick Riordan's The Lightning Thief.

Bryee Brittany wrote: "Instead of a movie they should make it into a series on HBO or some other network. Theres no way it can be turned into a movie"

haha I like that idea!

Kimberly Bet there will be a lot of "Fade to Black" with lots of noises. So that your imagination can run wild. LOL
