Month and Book
We have January and February already, so those who haven't picked out a book feel free to pick a book and a month. You can pick out ANY book and ANY month! THX
The February book is: Across the Nightingale Floor (Tales of the Otori, Book 1) by Lian HearnIf you go to the homepage of this group it will have the current months book up. When the next months book is decided that book will get posted up also. that way it will give you some time to get the book.
March's Book - The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry

It should be good because I've read loads of possitive reviews.
Cool! Thanks for letting us all know well in advance. It definitely makes it easier to get the book on time. I've never heard of this book before, so I'm excited to read it.
So, I love Jessica dearly. But since she hasn't actually read any of the books in the club, I am going to go ahead and give away her April pick to anyone who would like it... meaning Chelsea or Meredith, cause you're the only one's who read the books and haven't picked yet. Start fighting ladies.
It does not count if you don't post. You have to be an active member of the group to choose a book. So, if you hurry and go back in the other months and post comments on them, I'll give you April's book back :)
Well, I wouldn't mind choosing a book. I don't have one right off the top of my head though, so Chelsea, if you have one go ahead. But if not, I will come up with something!
Also, do people mind if I pick a YA book? That's just about all I read, and it's definitely what I'm most familiar with because of work (a children's/teen specialist in a public library). So, would people read that type of thing if I picked it?
That is actually one of the purposes for this book club. Say for example there are people in this book club that almost never read YA. You pick an amazing YA novel, something most of us will never even pick up, we all read it, expand our minds and our heads explode, but we are grateful you are there to put some of the pieces of our mind back together! In all honesty I probably wouldn't read anything except SF. This way I am forced to read outside my preferred genre and have read some amazing life changing books because of it. So, yeah... pick a YA and pick something crazy, funny, sad, long or short! This is what it is all about. :)
Okay, so if there are no objections, the book for April will be The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak.http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19063...
Everyone I know who has read it loves it a lot. So hopefully it's good!
I just ordered a used copy the thief from on amazon.com for $0.01 !!! $4.00 total with shipping. Wahooooo
I just wanted to let you all know that there is a book called The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner, but the book we are reading for April is The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak. So make sure you don't get those two confused. I would follow Meredith's link above just so you for sure you get the correct one. It's an easy mistake.
Well, I've got the audiobook. That might have to suffice for this month. Apparently we only have one paper copy of the darn thing at our library!
WooT! New book starts tomorrow. Don't forget, it's The Book Thief, not the Thief. Although that's good too.
I don't have any ideas right off for a book, so Dave, if you'd like to pick, that would be just terrific. And curse the fates, I STILL haven't gotten The Book Thief yet. I have it on hold at 3 (Count them, THREE!!!) different libraries. Hopefully I'll get it soon.
Chelsea, I think it's time you start using your ipod. And I will simply give you The Book Thief in audio format and all will be right with the world.

Chelsea, Chelsea, Chelsea, Your husband works at a library, you have the hook ups. Come on girl! Plus Tiff is right if you have an iPod you should totally use it. Silly girl who has an iPod and doesn't use it. That is like having a car you don't drive.
Yes, who is May? Chelsea? Dave?If not, I will steal it I guess, seeing as I haven't picked a book. But I don't really have any ideas. Would anyone want to read "The Name of the Wind" again? We'll probably need a refresher by the time the second one comes out.
Or not. I'll think of other ideas, but Chelsea or Dave, if you have an idea, by all means, it's yours.
I am down with The Name of the Wind! I have a copy of it, just haven't gotten around to it. So this would force me to read one best books ever from what I have heard from several peers. Or you could pick a Philip K. Dick book and blow everyone's mind to pieces!!! So congrats Tiphanie... it's yours!
Sorry folks for not participating much for April's book "The Book Thief". I downloaded the audiobook from Audible and the narrator does a great job, but I had a really hard time listening and then posting. I guess I just love highlighters too much! So, I got the hard copy of the book and a few highlighters, so I am good to go! :)
That sounds good to me, too. It's been on my list for a while. But if you come up with something else, I'm sure that will be great too! Huzzah for Tiffany!
What about me? Why do you just care if Becca would be willing to read it again? I've read it, too, ya know. Gosh.
IDK if we read it again. My only thing with reading it again is shouldn't we wait until the 2nd book is closer to coming out? IDK either way. I was just thinking ya know, ya know. Well of course you know.
YAY!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited to hear your thoughts on this book, Chelsea. And, did we come to a consensus about May? As I get closer to the end of The Book Thief, I'm looking to the future!
Sorry, Chelsea. How would you feel about reading it again? That being said, I guess we'll change it anyway :) Only because maybe we should wait until the next book is closer to coming out.I need to finish my homework and then I will start researching books and have it on here by tonight.
Sorry guys.I am thinking "Flow My Tears, The Policeman Said" by Philip K. Dick.
He's one of my favorite authors and not well known, so I want to blow all of your minds and after you recover, have you love him too. I don't really know alot about this book, but I love PKD, so I just picked a book of his I haven't read.
If it's too hard to get ahold of, let me know and I suppose we will change it.
But for now, that's the plan.
K. Sounds good to me. I hope it is better then Ubik :)I have an idea for the next month, I don't want to take away anyones turn though. If we come to the end of the month and we still haven't picked one, then I will share my idea.
Neato frito. I actually got the book already. I'm cool like that. In case anyone has a hard time finding it, the copy we have at my library is actually in a compilation type of book--Five Novels of the 1960s and 70s.
That is awesome Meredith, I'm glad you found it! I actually own that book that you are taking about. So if you decide to read anymore on there. I really loved Martian Time-Slip and A Scanner Darkly, but be careful with those ones as with all P.K.D. novels. They blew my mind and the pieces are still out of order when I tried to put them back!
I think Chelsea is picking for next month, but you feel free to try and pressure her into your choice.
Hey guys, remember me? I'm kidding--this is my first post. However, I always read everyone else's posts and REALLY want to be involved... but my public library's inter-library loan program is slower than a glacial drip so I can never get the books until everyone is finished. Therefore I have a small request--would it be possible to keep ourselves 3-4 months ahead on book choices? Or would that throw off everyone's groove? If we can't pick that far ahead, no big... I'll get to most of the books a couple months later, I'm sure. But if it wouldn't make a difference, I'd appreciate it! Feel free to extend your complaints directly to the Springville Public Library and/or my empty wallet.
