That's too bad about Ms. Baynes.I wish I still had my copy of her Middle Earth map; it was a work of art, and had I been a wiser child I would have treated it more gently.

Such beautiful work she had done for so many novel covers such as for Tolkien's 1961 paperback version of The Hobbit and C.S. Lewis's The Chronicles of Narnia and even one that many would remember on Watership Down. So i make this posting in honour of her and hope others may fondly remember the beautiful covers and illustrations she created that brought a smile to our faces.
