I guess it is. I just can't help but think of it as 1219 to go... Which seems especially daunting.

Travelling Sunny (Sunny_In_Wonderland) Oh, you're looking at it all wrong. You've got 1,219 more fantastic books to read! The overwhelming part is how to decide what to read next! :)

I agree with Sunny, that's all the good reading material for years and years to come - by the way as mods you guys can feel free to open up new threads and topics!

Haha, yes there are probably quite a few more fantastic books left for me to read. But there are so many on the list I have no desire to read (like can I just skip reading any more Faulkner?)...

But 75 is pretty good. I just am excited to get over 100. I am also dreading the update...

With 1294 titles it is easy to miss the ones I read a long time ago (the Nose) or forget to update a title. I also am trying to keep track with the app, the spreadsheet and this. Whew! Updated 78/1294. Goal is to be at 100/1294 by Christmas.

85/1294 (not counting the 2012 additions until they are confirmed)

I definitely won't count the 2012 additions either until I know what they are. My aim is just to read 1001 of any of the lists.

There are some people posting them in the Boxall group but I want confirmation from someone "I know".

I would like to try and read all of them from all the lists. Hopefully from now on the additions will be limited to a dozen or less every two years rather than the 200+ added in 2008.

And BAM just hit 100/1305. This is after being convinced I would be unable to hit 100 before the end of the year. Thankfully there are quite a few short but excellent selections on the list. :D

Great additions to the list. I've read many of them and liked those I have read. I have to read Schindler's Ark though...

It was a very difficult read (which I expected) but not only because of the subject but also the style of writing (not expected). It is without a doubt in my mind a case of the movie being better than the book (albeit different).

message 27: by Travelling Sunny (new)

Travelling Sunny (Sunny_In_Wonderland) Wow! Nice list, Lauren! I have to admit, I'm taking a little time off from the long list books - Don Quixote and Infinite Jest broke me for awhile. LOL! Just a small break!

Now at 121/1305

My recent reads include:

The Invisible Man
The Turn of the Screw
Alice in Wonderland
Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There
I, Robot
The Count of Monte Cristo
The Time Machine
The Collector
The War of the Worlds
Heart of Darkness
One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich

I am on FIRE! My goal was to read 50 list books this year but to keep alternating a list book with a non-list book for my reading. I think that 100 may actually be feasible if I can keep up this rate (it will get more difficult when I sub a month of morning classes and then when I start taking classes in the morning but hopefully it will happen).
