We'll look into these profiles. Thanks, Alessandra. In the future, the best place to flag possible puppet accounts is support (at) goodreads (dot) com.
Lobstergirl wrote: "So....how many of those were sock puppets?"I have no idea. I note that his books are still all over Listopia with dozens and dozens of these odd votes.
For example, his book is #1 on the list "Must Reads - My Version" with 55 votes, and every single voter has one of those blank, avatarless, friendless profiles. Some of them are named "Sdalik," "Ledrp," "Vposp," "Hsenn," "Jerham," "Fsonnheim," "Donb," "Rfrankl," "Peterj," "Garys," and "Davidhj."

Alessandra, thanks for the update. It sounds like we might need to look into this further. I'll try to get to this tomorrow morning.

Love that planet...been there a few times;P
It's entirely populated by puppets made out of socks. The wool for the socks come from sheep who are also strangely made out of socks. Scientists are baffled.

I'm sorry but I couldn't find "flag" on profile page. Could someone check these profiles?

they have 0 books and only activity was to vote on Best Cover Art 2011 (Non-YA) for Sons of Roland by Nicole Antonia Carson
There might be more suspicious profiles who voted for Mrs Carson's book - I didn't look all 48 of them.
More voters with the same pattern of activity:http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/71...

I found what looks to be about 20-30 sockpuppets here. Most joined, added no books and no friends but went directly to vote on listopia. They also all seem to have the same name, age, and location:http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/12...

The devil's literally in the "details" of each profile. Some very young looking 44-year-olds in Hanoi, Vietnam joining this month. I wonder how much cosmetic surgery they've all had. A bit odd they're all caucasian too. That's not suspect at all. o_O

Someone who needs friends, maybe?
At this point I want to have the book removed due to sockpuppetry. It's a pain in the ass to have to clean up.
Anna, that pic totally reminded me of the opening scenes of the movie Rango, making up stories with his dolls.
Who is it that's seriously taking all this time & effort to try & slam Stacia Kane?! Holy effing hell, an author that hates this sort of behavior, being the brunt of it?? Massive ugh.
Mel wrote: "Who is it that's seriously taking all this time & effort to try & slam Stacia Kane?! Holy effing hell, an author that hates this sort of behavior, being the brunt of it?? Massive ugh."That's the point. The authors who all act like asses and don't sell for shit are all PO'd at Stacia Kane.
They hate her and dislike the fact she is so successful. She is accused of "kissing up to readers" quite often.
So they do this because they can't kill her books, she only gets MORE popular, and they can't match her sales (no ability to cry "jealous" to Stacia Kane...with her NYT Best selling self).
I heart Stacia Kane. This only makes me go out and buy more of her books.
And no doubt whoever is doing this is one of the people whining about being bullied because of negative reviews and/or the outing of bad behavior.Color me unsurpised...
I'm not sure I'd want to read the one book of hers I looked at, judging by what the reviews have to say, but after this crap I almost want to go buy it anyway just because. Good grief!!
Mel wrote: "I'm not sure I'd want to read the one book of hers I looked at, judging by what the reviews have to say, but after this crap I almost want to go buy it anyway just because. Good grief!!"Which one?
Uhh I forget the name already lol, the one the socks keep voting. It does sound like there's some good aspects of it, but as a whole...
Mel wrote: "Uhh I forget the name already lol, the one the socks keep voting. It does sound like there's some good aspects of it, but as a whole..."Oh that one! I've had a few friends buddy read the series. They say it's pretty good - if you're into UF. The MC does have some personal issues but (I was told) it does fit with the world/plot, etc.
But I would look around for a spoilery review in case it has triggers.
I've read Personal Demons and I noticed she tells a good story...
I don't know Stacia Kane from Adam, and her books don't interest me in the least, so I am speaking purelty out of concern for list integrity. All but two or three of the votes for her books on "Author Temper Tantrums" (http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/20...) are definitely sock puppets. Each of the accounts list 0-1 books, and 0-2 friends. Each of them is age 44 from Hanoi, Vietnam. Ironically, the one book they all have is the same book they are voting on this list, and each gives it 5 stars (???).

Crack. It kills, maims and destroys.
Ben wrote: "Ironically, the one book they all have is the same book they are voting on this list, and each gives it 5 stars (???)."An attempt to obfuscate, I'd guess, or potentially even get Kane in trouble.

This is true...

Yup, one or both of those is almost guaranteed.
Another possible sock puppet for listopia voting? http://www.goodreads.com/list/user_vo...
Voted on many lists, all the same book.
Fascinating how the first four raters of that book are all have very similar profiles, and all from the same town.

They are 78 of the 79 people who voted for "The Land of the Free" by Krakondack on the list New Authors to Watch For.
Apart from the very last voter, "Gregory," who seems to be real, they all seem to be fakes.
I checked out a few random voters who voted for this book. Their profiles all look the same. Or at least, these were the first four I looked at:
http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/72...
http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/80...
http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/83...
http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/73...
Their profiles list nearly the same hometown (Cortland or Canastota, NY). They all have zero friends, the same sorts of 2 to 4 favorite books (two of the random ones I pulled have the same two "favorite" books), and the same sorts of big-name bestsellers plus Krakondack's book for their list of 20-something "read" books, all of which were loaded on the same day. Each profile has a few ranked bestsellers and Krakondack's book, possibly one or two reviews, at least one vote for Krakondack's book on a list, and none of them have had any activity since the day they were loaded.
About the only difference between them is the particular day their profiles were created.
Oh, and I checked this profile from one of the reviews on the book's main page:
http://www.goodreads.com/user/show/79...
This member is not a voter on the list above, so not one of the 78 there. But note the exact same pattern as the 78 other voters: hometown listed as Cortland, NY, zero friends, 3 bestsellers as "favorite" books, 21 "read" books, including a bunch of bestellers and Krakondack's book, a handful of ranked books, a review of Krakondack's book, a vote for Krakondack's book on a list, and no other activity since the day it was created.
I believe someone has been creating sock puppet accounts to artificially inflate this book's profile.
