332925 Laura, so glad you're here! We are an eclectic group with eclectic tastes, yet we all seem to have a marvelous time here. Hope you do too!

1502451 Met my goal of reading all Louisa May Alcott this summer! On to something else, now.

1270217 wooohooo! Go Angie! Sadly, still behind on my goals. But I picked up Anna K. again, and I'm really enjoying it. Slowly, but surely I'll get there.

713596 Today I realized I only read 19 books this year till this date, and two of them not even completly, because I had to return them to the library and am now waiting for another oportunity to borrow them. Aghr, I hate myself. Got to read more and spend less time online. :)

I was just thinking how I have to divide my time between reading and being on line discussing reading! Quite the dilemma!

179520 I am a teacher and my summer reading goals were the 4 books in the Twilight series, and also the 7 books in the Harry Potter series. (I am on book 5!) My best friend read the Twlight series, so she already had the books for me. The HP's I have gotten all from the Philadelphia free library, as well as the movies for after I read the book.

332925 I'm REALLY psyched... I'm on book #53 for the year, and should finish it this evening. Seriously, I did that with only reading two books in April, and five books two other months. Tell me that's not awesome!

I've been calculating the pages, too, as I said I would... I was doing that so I wouldn't feel so pressured to read so many books and would feel good about doing the longer ones... but now I can do both in a way because I've done enough for one book a week for the whole year... and I have 4.5 months left! (I HAVE done several 800-ish pagers as it is, but that's nothing to The Count of Monte Cristo that I plan to FINALLY read after I finish all my library books currently out!)

The only thing is that lately I've been reading books from the BBB The Big Read Top 100 list even though I've collected all but 3 or 4 of Rory's original list! That's so lame, but suddenly I found myself on this role and just couldn't (can't) seem to role another way!

Anyway, I'm really excited about my current number...

Nophoto-f-25x33 Thanks for the story! I've been off work for five months and read 16 books. I thought that was good until I saw this. A couple of great reads to the question what's everyone reading right now:

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society (half-way through. I love world war II stories that are unique and different like The Reader. This is definetely one of them)
The Monsters of Templeton (did not want it to end)

I think Rory would like both of these books!

1769862 I've been thinking about reading goals for 2010 already. (I didn't do spectacularly at keeping track of my progress for 2009, so I've pretty much abandoned it) I guess I'm thinking more long term than that. I'm taking a year off, so I'll start law school or grad school in August 2011, which is about 21 months away. I found a list of books by Gilmore Girls episode. After going through it, I realized that I had read a fair number, but I owned a ton of them. 65 as it turned out. So my first goal is to read all of those 65 during the next 21 months. If I finish that, there are several on there that I want to read, but haven't bought. I'm considering introducing the list to my dad, although I probably won't tell him where I got it.

336421 Lori -- could you post a link to that list -- I used to have a similar though incomplete list but I lost it. If not a link then maybe e-mail a document if someone else also wants this. Thanks -- just asking so don't feel obligated to do a lot of typing if you would rather not, okay?

1769862 Dotti, No problem! It's a matter of copy and paste! Personally, I supplemented the list with some others that I own and think fit in. But here's the link to the site:

336421 Oh thank you -- this is much more than I had in the previous list.

message 164: by Lori (new)

1769862 There were some repeats (I think Huck Finn was on there like 5 times) but it lays them all out there.

message 165: by Dottie (new)

336421 I noticed several that repeated but at least it's closer to complete than the list I lost. Thanks again for sharing it.
