This thread is to add whatever quotes you wish for the day. (They can be by you or someone else.)

"Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe."

This seems to be the theme of things, now that I'm back at work.
Dennis the Peasant: "Listen. Strange women lying in ponds distributing swords is no basis for a system of government. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, not from some farcical aquatic ceremony."
Arthur: "Be quiet!"

I wouldn't say I like this quote but it had me nodding my head recognising I know people like that.
"He's nice enough not to want to be associated with a nasty remark but not nice enough not to make it. Lacking the courage of one's nastiness does not make one nice."
Michael Kinsley

If we locate beauty in the eye of the beholder, what happens when the beholder looks elsewhere?-Alain de Botton
On Love A Novel
"It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. What are we holding onto, Sam?
That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo... and it's worth fighting for
(From The Lord of the Rings screenplay by Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens
