1305317 Oh mah gawsh Dee...do you have a "day job"? Or do you just sit at home and type all day?

message 6: by Seth (new)

1379900 well she IS a published author (i is reading her book ^^) so maybe writing is her JOB

message 7: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Hey Roni and Seth,

come on in and take a load off :]

message 8: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Hey Seth I believe in you! Just keep plugging away each day :]

Like I said, do one page a day and by the end of a year you will have a full length book :]

message 9: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Roni, Breaks are good! Just because you are not writing does not mean that you are not "writing" in your mind :]

message 10: by Seth (new)

1379900 Hmm . . . I never thought of the "one page a day" thing . . . but my novel is already 60+ pages long . . .

message 11: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (last edited Jan 04, 2009 12:07PM) (new)

1457164 Sticks tongue out at Da Captain...

Seth is right, writing is my "day job." I B sOOooo lucky :]

*sings off-key* "I get to go to work in my PJs."

message 12: by Michelle (new)

1013780 *gigglesnort*

message 13: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 1000 words a day is only two pages...it really is not the much :(

message 14: by Kenzie, My NaNo story died. I'm going to attempt Reawakened Soul again. (new)

627841 1000 words really isn't that bad. It's just the initial shock has to wear off of, "HOLY CRAP! THAT'S A LOT!" Then you get to work, and you realize it's not that much. *shrugs*

message 15: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Hey Michelle, I thought I heard a familiar "gigglesnort" coming down the hallway :]

message 16: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Seth...60 pages is Outstanding! I am very proud of you!

message 17: by Michelle (new)

1013780 hee hee, yep thats me

message 18: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Hey Kenzie,

The 1,000 words is easy...it is writing 1,000 words "each day" that makes your scream "Holy Crap!"

message 19: by Seth (new)

1379900 Thankz! But I think my pages are shorter than everyone else's

message 20: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (last edited Jan 04, 2009 12:18PM) (new)

1457164 Seth...Do you double space?

1305317 *Captain creeps in*

I am supremely jealous. What I would give for the opportunity to stay home all day and write. Your goal should be MUCH higher*glareglare* lol

*cringes at Dee's singing* arrrrgh...tone...deaf... *goes fetal with her old music director*

message 22: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (last edited Jan 04, 2009 12:58PM) (new)

1457164 Hey, I never said I was flawless. Although I can sing "pretty-much" on-key when I play my guitar :]

Captain...I have no doubt that you too will be a professional writer one day. Writing away in the wee hours of the morning, with tons of deadlines to keep you busy.

Ahhh, and to think, I knew her when :]

As to setting more than 1,000 words a day. I agree with you. I could set it higher. But {yes, I have But-face} I also write "stuff" for several magazines and newspapers, and that "does" take away from my novel writing. Yet, there is No Way that I am complaining. I LOVES my job!

Oh, and my soul mate insists that I cook his meals and do laundry...he "hates" going to work commando ;]

message 23: by Roni, I'll soon get to know Richard better than I probably want to (new)

632202 uh, I believe that there are very few men who CAN do that, let alone WILL do that. Seeing as most people have to go outside, get in there car, and drive to a some sort of building (either office or store) to go to work, I don't believe that anybody could pull it off without being arrested for indecent exposure.

message 24: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Well "going commando" is just sans tightie whities, not outer garments :)

1305317 Hahahahaha, my friend was like, why would I go commando, that's disgusting and uncomfortable. XD

And your husband wears tightie-whities??

message 26: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Actually I just used that for my example...would never ever really talk about anyone's undies in a public forum.

*hands strange mystical book back to Da Captain, as I rub my head*

I think this belongs to you? :]

1305317 *cradles it gently* Hey you bent the corners!!!! Jk, this book is indestructible.

*reads cover to you* Let's All Kill Constance...mmmm,yummy...

message 28: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 indestructible flying books, mumbles to self, rubbing bump on head. :]

message 29: by Michelle (new)

1013780 *laughs, then runs, for fear of flying books hitting self in head*

1305317 HAhahaha, you should read it. It's by Ray Bradbury

And how have I gone all this time without becoming your friend on goodreads? It's almost shameful. ><

T_T

message 31: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Shame, shame, can't say that anymore :]

1305317 ^_^ Whoot.

Gah, I'm trying to get motivated. I already hit my word count goal working on my research paper today, but I prolly should work on something novel-esque.

message 33: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Hey Michelle, I hate to tell you this...you can run from Da Captain's book, but you can't hide.

Besides, it has a built-in "gigglesnort" detector!

message 34: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 <--loves Ray Bradbury, used to read him all the time.

message 35: by Michelle (new)

1013780 *eyes widen* uh-oh... *backs away slowly*

message 36: by Elaine (new)

1226550 LOL!

message 37: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 Run fast Michelle, and don't giggle. Da Captain is everywhere!

1305317 *evil grin* Just don't threaten to make me read Twilight. You should be okay.

message 39: by Michelle (new)

1013780 ack!

message 40: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 *Waits for Michelle to leave, then turns out the lights*

See you all tomorrow :)

message 41: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 *hears a gigglesnort and a soft glunk*

Sigh, I warned her.

message 42: by Michelle (new)

1013780 hey! that wasnt me!

message 43: by Dee, Fan of the "Young Prose Society" (new)

1457164 *Click to darkness, exit...stage left*

868779 Hi Dee! I haven't said Hi yet either! HI!

If you would be interested in joining another writing group, you should look up I Write, Therefore, I Live. It's a new group I just made, and it's a lot of fun.

message 47: by T.O.L.I. (new)

1457164 *Flips on the light switch...ye gads...what a mess...*
*Picks up the candy bar wrappers…notices several notes written on the wrappers.*
*Quickly jots down notes to those who left notes.*

*Writes to Paige* Hi there Paige. Thank you for the warm welcome. Also thanks for the invitation to join yet another Goodreads writing group. But, at least at this time, I must respectfully decline the invitation, as I am “grouped-out” at the moment. But, again, thank you so much for the invite :]

Keep striving toward you goals. Good things come to those who keep writing. I believe in you :]

*Writes to Toli* Hi back at you, thanks for stopping by. My door is always open, as long as the lights are on, I’m not far away. I look forward to dropping by your cubical and reading your new chapters.

*Carefully pins my notes to the bulletin board on the wall just outside of my writing cubical.*
