69. The Black Tower by Louis Bayard
(4 1/2 stars)Great historical fiction/mystery about the possibility of the survival of Louis-Charles of France, the son of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette.

I think the use of Highgate Cemetery made it especially interesting. Now I want to visit it. There were things about the book that bothered me some, the ending was not very satisfying, but overall it was an excellent read.

54. A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb
(5 stars)Great read! Creative ghost story.
(This title should have been entered after Mermaids in the Basement.)
52. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
(5 stars)Absolutely fantastic! As good as the first one, The Hunger Games
50. The Sisterby Poppy Adams
(2 stars)I hate that #50 was so disappointing, but I had hoped to read more than 50 anyway. Last year, I read 70 and originally planned to read 75 this year, but that was before I decided to read the whole Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. Those books were worth the reduction in my goal.
My reading has been interrupted by the birth of my first grandchild, probably the first time ever that I haven't complained when my reading was interrupted. She's a beautiful distraction!
33. The Devil in the White City Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson
(5 stars)
32. The Calder Game by Blue Balliett
(5 stars)I've been reading some great books lately. This YA mystery was excellent.
