I've been sick but reading while resting so my 50 has come and gone with little fanfare. Here's the rundown.
#49 Peaches by Jodi Lynn Anderson
Cute, summer read. A lot like Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.
#50 The Protest Singer:An Intimate Portrait of Pete Seeger by Alec Wilkinson (I think)
Great little bio of Pete Seeger-not exhaustive by any means but hits all the high points.
#51 The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
Great story, fun read.
#52 Sold by Patricia McCormick
I read this in a few hours-totally engrossing read about a young girl who is sold to a brothel in India.
Thanks for the TIcker Mary Todd and thanks Dini! Taking out too many library books at once and being sick definitely helped me rack up the numbers lately!
#53 Sarah's Key by Tatiana de RosnayGood but sad
#54 Chasing Harry Winston by Lauren Weisberger
Not great even for a summer read.
Thanks Cherylann but I'm not so sure! I'm having my second baby in September and don't know how much reading I'll be able to do for those first few months. With my son I think I made it through one book on my maternity leave and it was tiny! Things could be totally different this time around-basically I'm preparing for the worst and hoping for the best! That's why I at least wanted to get to 50 before the baby and then anything over that is gravy.
WOW! Congratulations - on finishing your 50 and the upcoming birth! I'm sure with a little guy and a newborn there will be little time for reading. Being a working mom, I'm amazed that you were able to get your 50 in! Terrific accomplishment!
I had a busy week last week and a busy weekend so not much to add here. Did just finish#55 Marley and Me by John Grogan
I feel like the last person on earth to have read this-definitely sweet story.
Nah, you're not the last. That would be me. It's still sitting on my shelf. Congrats on reaching the half-century mark and on your future newborn! :)
#57 Smashed Squashed Splattered Chewed Chunked and Spewed by Lance Carbuncle
Really funny but so twisted!
#61 Choke by Chuck PalahniukTwisted but funny.
#62 Dead Babies by Martin Amis
Also twisted but not quite as funny or interesting in my opinion.
#64 Garden Spells by Sarah Addison AllenGreat story, kind of reminded me of Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman
#65 Grave Sight by Charlaine Harris#1 in the series-not quite as good as the Sookie books but still entertaining.
#66 The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg LarsonI wound up really liking this-definitely couldn't wait to see how it ended.
#67 Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys
Interesting but it bummed me out.
#68 Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth Grahame-Smith
Funny and bizarre.
#69 All Together Dead by Charlaine HarrisBook 7 in the Sookie Stackhouse series-I think I need a little break from these. They're still good but losing some of their luster.
#70 On Becoming Babywise by Gary Ezzo
Some stuff was helpful, other stuff was just ridiculous!
#71 Grave Surprise by Charlaine Harris
Book #2 in the Harper Connelly series-definitley an enjoyable read. I finished this a few weeks ago (right before having my baby) but haven't been able to update.
Thanks Dini! I have a feeling this might be as far as I get for some time but I'm pretty happy with my number overall!
#72 Something Blue by Emily Giffin
First book I've finished post baby. Fun and easy to read even in my sleep deprived state!
Okay-I'm finally getting a chance to update here. Now if I can just remember what I've read!
#73Hope in a Jar (I'll add the author later)
#74New Moon by Stephanie Meyer
#75From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris
My goal was to read 3 books during my maternity leave and I've read 4 so I'm happy. I have one more week to go so maybe I'll finish something else.
#76 Absurdistan by Gary ShteyngartI didn't enjoy this book at all. It took me forever to read and I couldn't wait for it to end.
