290438 Wow - more than half way there already . . . good for you, Maria!

message 25: by Kiwiria (new)

168347 Thank you! I can now add book 38: The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett.

message 26: by Mary Alice (new)

1325607 Good gracious--how do you read so fast?

message 27: by Kay, Your Humble Servant (new)

290438 Maria, I admire you for getting through "Pillars". I tried that one and gave up after a bit - it's very long, and there are some brutal scenes that were quite hard to take. Altho' I did give up on it, I kind of hated to do so. Follett is a talented author and it "Pillars" takes place in a most interesting era in European history.

message 28: by Kiwiria (new)

168347 Mary Alice, I don't have any kids, and don't watch much TV, so I have heaps of time to read :)

Kay, there are definitely some very brutal scenes in "Pillars", and they did get to be a bit much at times, but generally I loved the book. I simply couldn't put it down, and finished it in three days.

1325607 How was Insomnia?

message 35: by Kiwiria (new)

168347 Absolutely amazing! It may have been that I wasn't expecting much, but I have to say it's the best Stephen King I've ever read.

message 36: by Stacie (new)

2058486 How was "Leave Ma Alone, I'm Reading"?

message 37: by Kiwiria (new)

168347 Unfortunately not nearly as good as I had expected. I found it hard to get interested and couldn't figure out what her red thread was supposed to be. If you want to read something along the same lines (but heaps better) I can highly recommend So Many Books, So Little Time A Year of Passionate Reading. I REALLY enjoyed that one.

Thanks for the warning/suggestion! :)

Book 56: House of Stairs by William Sleator

Book 57: The Thirteen Treasures by Michelle Harrison

Book 58: The Innocent Mage by Karen Miller

Book 59: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader by C.S. Lewis

message 40: by Stacie (new)

2058486 How was The Innocent Mage? It's on my list of books 'I might be interested in'.

message 41: by Kiwiria (new)

168347 It's excellent, but make sure you have "The Awakened Mage"/"Innocence Lost" (apparently the second book has two titles depending on where you buy it) readily available. You'll want to dive straight into it once you finish TIM.

message 42: by Kiwiria (new)

168347 Book 60: Third by Lorna Summers - hasn't been published yet unfortunately. I got to read an ARC! :D

Book 61: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer

Book 62: Tonni på tourné (Tonni on Tour) by Estrid Ott - one of my favourite Danish authors.

Book 63: Addition by Toni Jordan

Book 64: The Music Teacher by Barbara Hall

Book 65: The Silver Chair by C.S. Lewis

Book 66: The Last Battle by C.S. Lewis. This one always makes me cry. Especially where Aslan tells Lucy they're back to stay: "The term is over; the holiday has begun. The dream is ended; this is the morning." Gives me chills just to write it!

message 43: by Stacie (new)

2058486 The Last Battle always made me so angry about Susan (won't say anymore in case of spoilers, but I never liked that part)!

message 44: by Kiwiria (new)

168347 Same here, but what made me accept the idea is that there's no indication that it was permanent. She might still have another chance.

In my review I linked to a fanfic about Susan's life after "Voyage of the Dawn Treader" - it's not terribly long, and I think you'd really enjoy it.

message 45: by Kiwiria (new)

168347 Book 67: Grand Avenue by Joy Fielding

Book 68: Finnikin of the Rock by Melina Marchetta

Book 69: The Story of the Treasure Seekers Complete and Unabridged by E. Nesbit

Only another 6 books to go! :-)

message 47: by Kiwiria (new)

Book 75: Dødens mange facetter - Dennis Jürgensen

DONE! :-D
