986586 You guys are inspiring me to read much more but I am not sure 50 is doable. I have never kept track though. I will shoot for 30 and see where I get!

1. Twilight
2. Dead until Dark
3. Coraline

1460399 Is this your first time reading the Twilight Series, Jenn?

message 4: by Jenn (new)

986586 yes! I am trying to make it last and between the Twilight series and the Sookie Stackhouse series I think I might OD on Vampires.

Is that possible!

message 5: by Dominique (new)

1460399 LOL No way! Well, at least I haven't...yet...and I'm a total addict! Seriously. Try reading the Twilight series, Sookie Stackhouse (still haven't gotten around to it), Black Dagger Brotherhood (highly recommend it), and the House of Night series. If anyone would be on vamp overload, it would def be me. LOL

message 6: by Jenn (new)

986586 Sweet!

Thanks for the recomendations and helping my recent addiction along! I am going to add them to read right now!

580431 Jenn, I think a bunch of us are going through vampire overload, lol. Like Dom, I have read the Twilight series, the BDB, and the Southern Vampire Mysteries (aka Sookie Stackhouse). I have the Gardella Vampire Chronicles, but haven't started it yet. Am trying to branch out a little, ha!

1066511 LOL.... sadly, despite trying to avoid most vampire series after Twilight I have now read all 4 House of Night books (a fun, fast read) and the first two Sookie Stackhouse books, plus I own the other Sookie books, the first Gardella Vampire Chronicle, and and the first few BDB books.

Oops, maybe we should stop taking over your book list now!

message 9: by Jenn (new)

986586 I think it's ok because it is more of a Vampire support group than my book list (which has come to a halt because I was trying to read something unvampire like but I don't seem to be interested) I am glad to have my fellow addictee's (is that a word?)

580431 Yay for vampire addictees!! hehe. I forgot to add another series: The Blue Blood series by Melissa De La Cruz. A bit of fluff, but entertaining. Nothing can compare to Twilight for me though. *sigh*

1470938 How are you guys not getting into Anne Rice? Or is that too old?

message 12: by Dominique (last edited Jan 09, 2009 05:21AM) (new)

1460399 Anne Rice is a whole different category for me. On a totally different level from Twilight, House of Night, etc. It's not too old, but I haven't read it in a while. Since college at least. Hmmm...maybe I should do a re-read as part of my book challenge. I think I own them all, with maybe the exception of 1 or 2 at the very end.

580431 I have not read one Anne Rice book. *gasp*

986586 5)The Zombie Survival Guide - Max Brooks

I decided to take a break from Vampire's and read about zombies.

message 15: by Sarah (new)

1470938 Awesome book, eh?

message 16: by Jenn (new)

986586 Well I am now fully prepaired for a zombie attack! I just need to practice, practice, practice!

message 17: by Sarah (new)

1470938 Do you have your escape plan?

message 18: by Jenn (last edited Jan 13, 2009 05:12PM) (new)

986586 6) Hunger Games - Oh my gosh this is such a good book! Could be a favorite. Can't wait to discuss it!

580431 Seriously, Jenn, SOO good, right? I can't believe we have to wait a year for the next one.

message 20: by Viola (last edited Feb 25, 2009 03:52AM) (new)

1147290 I agree! I LOVED The Hunger Games. I can't wait to talk about it.

message 21: by Jenn (new)

986586 Sarah - I am currently working on my escape plan because I am really unsure about trying to shove my 114 pound dogs into our tiny attic space.

message 27: by Jenn (new)

986586 hmm...are you trying to tell me something?

Ok! Ok! I will start putting authors.

message 28: by Sarah (new)

1470938 YAY!

message 29: by Jenn (new)

986586 9)Eclipse by (do I really need to put this one) Stephenie Meyer

Ok so far I liked this one the best. I was sad in the last one but this one made me cry and was a little bit heart wrenching. I have a cold and crying really did not help with the snot factor!

message 30: by Sans (last edited Feb 25, 2009 02:21AM) (new)

1451884 Eclipse was my favourite of the series too. You on to Breaking Dawn next? I've read books 1-3 several times each but BD only once. I've tried to read it again a few times but just can't finish it again.

message 31: by Jenn (new)

986586 Sans - What about it made it your fav?

I think I am going to take a break before diving into BD because I need to get some work done before anyone notices that I haven't been. Once I start on those books everything else ends up on hold.

message 32: by Sans (new)

1451884 That's a very good question Jenn! Hmmmmm. I like that Edward and Bella's relationship is finally 'stable' (and that Edward is actually in the book, not just putting in an appearance at the end a la New Moon!). I really enjoyed the tension between Edward and Jacob and I liked the 'conflict' with Victoria and the new vamps.

I really liked the humor in Eclipse. More than any other book in the series, this one had me laughing out loud. I was reading it at coffee shops and movie theaters and I had to bite my lips to keep the guffaws and giggles to a minimum volume.

Each book really does have it's own flavor. Twilight was sweet and tentative, New Moon was an emotional train wreck, Eclipse was funny and exciting. Breaking Dawn was...hmmm. Not that I think I have the power to, but I don't want to influence your enjoyment of the book.

Why did you enjoy this one over T & NM?

message 33: by Sarah (new)

1470938 I loved BD. It had that sweeping sense of grandeur and mass about it. I loved the werewolf part of BD so much especially.

message 34: by Trista (new)

1711748 I loved Eclipse, especially the tent scene. But, I loved all the books...I don't know if it because I read them as they came out instead of back to back or the fact that I found something I could relate to in each book.

message 35: by Jenn (new)

986586 I think the reason I enjoyed this one so much more is about the same reasons as Sans. I liked the intensity of all of the realationships so much more and I felt like there was so much more character coming out of the smaller bits like Charlie and Alice. I also think I truly started to love Jacob in this book. Maybe I related much more to this one.

Oh the tent scene...maybe that was what made me fall in love more with both Jacob and Edward.

986586 10) Saving Francesca by Melina Marchetta

Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! I loved Francesca's sarcastic nature. I laughed out loud many times and cried enough that I had to stop reading because I couldn't see the words at the end. Did I mention that I loved this book?

message 37: by Jenn (new)

986586 11) Vampire Knight Vol 1

message 38: by Sans (new)

1451884 Woohoo!!!

580431 Yay!!!

message 40: by Sarah (new)

1470938 Did you like it???

message 41: by Jenn (new)

986586 OH YES! Thank you ladies!

message 42: by Sarah (new)

1470938 YAY! Another convert!

message 43: by Jenn (new)

986586 Not only that but now I can't stop watching anime either! You guys are great!

580431 The Vampire Knight anime is AWESOME.

I'm still shocked that you like anime (even if it is only the one series).

580431 Did I mention that the night class is HOT?

message 47: by Jenn (new)

986586 I know!!!! I feel like a 13 year old saying that!
