What is everyone currently reading, or soon to be reading?

I am about to start Kelley Armstrong's Exit Strategy (I think someone in this group mentioned this book and I became curious lol). I just finished Lilith Saintcrow's Nightshift. Which was pretty good.

I just started I Burn for You by Susan Sizemore. It is the first book by her that I have read. So far it is really good.

Re-starting Succubus dreams by Mead and the 5th in the BDB series by Ward

it's ok but not going to earn a spot on my keeper shelf.

I read Nymphos of Rocky Flats and was very disappointed that the story didn't match the title.Like you said it was ok

I just finished The Book Thief, not paranormal, but worth the read! It was fantastic.

I also just picked up Wolfsbane and Mistletoe, the anthology. I want to read the Sookie story. I also picked up Night Life by Caitlin Kittredge. Haven't started either one yet, but I'll let you know how they are!

Kelley Anne - I thought The Book Thief was fantastic! I have Night Life on my TBR as well. Can't wait to hear how it was.

I finished Kelley Armstrong's Exit Strategy and it was pretty good! It wasn't paranormal at all, the main character was a female assassin. Pretty good story though. Now I'm on to the second Jenna Black book The Devil You KnowThe Devil You Know

Riding Temptation by Jaci Burton, a new author for me.

Caitlin Kittredge is kinda dark for my taste, she's an author I recommend for readers who request dark stories. Exit Strategy was interesting, I'm curious where the author takes the story next.

I should try Jenna Black again, her first was a wallbanger for me & didn't finish. I hear she's improving.

Regarding Jenna Black - I think that the one thing that annoys me about her is her constant recapping of what happened before. I know that there needs to be some sort of recap in case someone misses a book, but I feel like she does it wayy too much. But I still enjoyed the story.

Have you read about a sequel to Exit Strategy?? I would love to read more about Nadia and Jack lol.

Denni - you just made my day haha. I looked it up on Barnes and Noble.com and it says the release date is Feb 24, 2009. :) Fantastic.

Jess, As a fan, I check Kelley's website every so often & knew the info was there. If Feb 24th is a Tuesday, that is probably the lay-down date. If it's late in the month, I've noticed the publisher may use the next month instead (no idea why).

Nadia is an interesting heroine, I'm also looking forward to the sequil.

Kate that sounds like an interesting book, I also added it to my TBR list. It sort of reminds me of the Kitty series by Carrie Vaughn. Kitty is also a radio DJ that has a show where supernatural creatures call in to for help

Didn't enjoy Eyes Of Crow by Jeri Smith-Ready. Finally decided to try again with Wicked Game, and glad I did. Interesting and complex characters and a quick moving plot, it was great fun!

I just finished Bitten & Smitten by Michelle Rowen. Not too bad, a little cheesy. I have so many books sitting around I'm not sure what I'll be reading. But Plum Spooky (the newest in between the numbers from Janet Evanovich) just came out, so I might have to go run out and buy that. haha. It's a very good series if anyone is interested. Although it has nothing to do with Urban Fantasy or Paranormal! lol.

Janet Evanovich makes me laugh until it hurts, especially the early ones.

I was trying to read Heart Of Stone for the Urban Fantasy group read, but I'm not sure I'll be sticking with it. I'm reading the Alpha & Omega story in On the Prowl so I can start Cry Wolf. (And I'm also reading a few nonfictions -- but does anyone care about those?) :)

Bonnie, a fan of non-fiction. Unless it's crafty I have such a difficult time getting into NF. Then I feel like an airhead!!

Haha -- ahhh. I never really got into it much before (except for crafty topics, actually! -- and health), but the last year or so I've really been interested in the environment and sustainable living, and have been finding some really good books in those areas.

There are books written to make topics accessible -- no one should feel like an airhead!!

Bonnie - I also loved the Nadia Stafford book!! I think the sequel is coming out at the end of January. which is great because I just finished the first book a few weeks ago. Less wait time :)

I wonder what they're going to do with Nadia and Jack. I was so entranced by their relationship and how he obviously wanted to tell her how he felt and she kept misinterpreting what he was saying. I'm dying to find out how it all turns out.

Jess -- I just read Exit Strategy recently, too -- I'm very glad there's less wait time before the next one. That's what's nice about going back to read all these series I never read -- I can just read one after the other. :)

I just finished Pleasure Unbound, it was okay. I have the Nora Roberts Circle Trilogy sitting on my desk, but I can't seem to sit down to read it. I think I'm going to read Imitation in Death by J.D. Robb next. I love that series

You know J.D. Robb IS Nora Roberts right Jess? Figuring you do but you sounded like you were sorta bored with Nora and wanted to read another and chose JD hehe.

I know, it's so creepy that they are the same person because I feel like the writing is so different!

Hehe so which of the pen names do you like better?

JD Robb definitely.. although I'm starting to wonder if she has ghost writers do some of the books. Because within her Robb series sometimes the writing style varies and I've heard rumors that she uses ghost writers.. Oh well, the books are still good.

I think I just don't like the historical type romances. If it goes into the past I lose interest. Hence I stopped reading the Circle Trilogy.

Just finished Veil of Midnight by Lara Adrian. It was good, preferred it to the previous installment.

and I just finished today The Darkest Night by Gena Showalter. (not bad, i'm looking forward to the others in her series)

I am trying to decide between Cry Wolf by Patricia Briggs and the Sookie Stackhouse series, and the last two Darkyn books by Lynn Viehl.

Anne -- did you read the Alpha & Omega short story in the On the Prowl anthology yet? If so, I'd recommend it before you start Cry Wolf -- but I definitely recommend Cry Wolf. (Although I really like the Sookie series, too.)

Ack... that's disappointing to hear. I've never read her (or J.D. Robb for that matter) but Doubleday was having a special on the Circle trilogy a little while back, so I bought the set. I'll give it a go at some point though.

I'm about halfway through Changeling which I'm hoping to finish tonight, but definitely by tomorrow - as it's my last book in my January reading challenge. Then I just need to decide what the first book for my February reading challenge will be.

Bonnie, yes I read the anthology last week, and really like Patricia Briggs' story! I did start Cry Wolf after I posted, just the prologue so far. I hope to spend some time on it this afternoon!

Darkheart, I really liked the Circle trilogy, so, as with everything, it's a matter of taste. I do think the first book is the weakest though; the other two are better, and the third is really good. I think you'll like them, I guess they just weren't Jess's cup of tea. (Though Jess, I still think you should read the others!)

Me too Anne. :) I hadn't read the Mercedes Thompson series, so after Cry Wolf I went back to start that. I'm 2 into it so far. I like Briggs. I think Frost is a great writer, too. I like Vaughn (I'm finishing up Kitty Goes to Washington now), but I'm not as impressed with her writing now that I've read Briggs and Frost. All these new-to-me authors -- so cool. :)

Nichole - It's good to hear a good review. I realize everyone will have their own opinion, so I will definitely give them a go.

Bonnie - I haven't read Vaughn yet, although I've got one on my bookshelf. Frost and Briggs are two of my absolute favorites though. Those women can do no wrong in my eyes (although I admit to only reading Briggs' were series).

DarkHeart -- I enjoyed the series/authors I'd read before Briggs and Frost, but their writing is just SO GOOD I think they've raised the bar/made me a bit more critical of what I'm willing to read. :)

I'm blowing through Vicki Pettersson's Zodiac series, I'm really liking it because the heroine is so imperfect. She doesn't take herself too seriously, which is always fun.

Different, or possibly DIFFICULT lol. I laugh because I had to look at the cover to be sure I got the double letters right!

Yeah, I've heard from others that they really enjoyed Robert's Circle Trilogy, but I just couldn't get into it. And at that time I had so many books waiting that I was anxious to read. Maybe I'll go back at one point to start them again.... maybe :)

I just finished Be still my vampire heart by Kerrelyn Sparks - not realizing that it was the third in the series, so now I have to go backwards and read the first two. Bummer.

Oooh I have On the Prowl by MacInerney coming too! I just ordered 3 different books with that title (not to mention the 2 titled Howl at the Moon) which I thought was rather interesting, I guess I'm on a Shape Shifter binge :)
