1530348 I love the Kuckalicious... Where did that come from? Just reading it made me smile... Then I tried to figure out how to pronounce it and that also made me smile...!

1147290 Sarah, I'm so glad you liked The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets. It's one of my favorites and is also on my top ten. I bought it for five people last Christmas. :)

1470938 I was soo surprised to find another book that I loved so fast. I don't find them that often, and I found Nick & Norah a couple months ago, and then this one, and I am just....speechless. I just love it so much. I would never want to see a movie version of it, though.

Incidentally, I was NOT able to figure this one out like I have every other book I've read lately. Which I was so thankful for.

OH! Also I got it at Books a Million for only 3.97. I love going through the bargain section, they have the best books on clearance. I don't like B&N's clearance, it's not cheap enough and it's rarely anything very good imo.

message 12: by Sarah (last edited Feb 17, 2009 11:32PM) (new)

1470938 16. Of Love and Other Demons, Gabriel Garcia Marquez (160 p)

message 13: by Sarah (last edited Feb 17, 2009 11:33PM) (new)

1470938 17. Atlas Shrugged, Ayn Rand (1069 p)

Took me two years to read; got to this political/economical/moral discourse towards the end that's about 50 or so pages long and I couldn't ever get into it. Lots of notes in the margins now tho! Really enjoyed this book.

1066511 What is The Lost Art of Keeping Secrets about?

message 15: by Sarah (new)

1470938 Essentially....it's a coming of age story set in 1950's UK. But it's so much MORE than that.

message 16: by Sarah (last edited Feb 17, 2009 11:34PM) (new)

1470938 18. Scions Insurrection, Patrice Michelle (288 p)

message 17: by Sarah (last edited Feb 17, 2009 11:34PM) (new)

1470938 19. Beast Of Desire, Lisa Renee Jones (288 p)

No comments from the flipping peanut gallery.

Dearest, most of us wouldn't have room to talk.

1470938 Jenn, are you exhibiting feline qualities as well? I would like to have two kitties to keep me warm at night...although Jayne likes to go off on her own to hunt mice sometimes...

message 21: by Sarah (last edited Feb 17, 2009 11:35PM) (new)

1470938 20. Shopaholic Takes Manhattan, Sophie Kinsella. (400 p)

Did not like the beginning. Maybe because it's been years since I read the first book, but I really did not get invested in this book till the last four or so chapters. Decent book, tho. Makes me want to read the next one.

Of course....I read anything...

message 22: by Sarah (new)

1470938 Hmmm....I bet if February had a few more days, I could hit 50. Wow. Let me hit 50 two months after we start the challenge.

That being said, I plan on hitting it about April. So looking forward to see what I can really do this year.

message 23: by Sarah (new)

1470938 Hmm I'm thinking I need to go to the bookstore and pull a Sans.

message 24: by Viola (new)

1147290 Keep going with Becky Bloomwood, Sarah. She just continues to be an airhead, yet you can't help loving her. And that Luke...yum yum.

1451884 Sarah wrote: "Hmm I'm thinking I need to go to the bookstore and pull a Sans."

Oi. 11 books in 2 days was a personal record!

1066511 LOL.... ok first of all the Beast of Desire comments were cracking me up.

Secondly, I don't think I've done 11 in 2 days, but I do work in a bookstore and got on such a buying jag when we got a whole ton of bargain books in that the people at work were picking on me for not being able to get through one work shift without buying something.... oops. I'm doing better now (and I didn't tell them that I bought Envy and a Scott Westerfeld book when I went to another branch of our store - love having that employee discount at all the branches!!).

Agreed! I'm very curious to see the movie. It has a very SATC vibe in the trailers, and I love Isla Fisher.

message 28: by Sarah (new)

1470938 Oh me too! Although, from the previews it looks like a combo of Shopaholic & Shopaholic Takes Manhattan. No biggie.

Love the guy playing Luke.

message 29: by Sarah (last edited Feb 17, 2009 11:35PM) (new)

1470938 21. Rumors A Luxe Novel, Anna Godbersen (448 p)

Worst ending to a book emotionally ever.

message 30: by Sarah (last edited Feb 17, 2009 11:36PM) (new)

1470938 22. Envy A Luxe Novel, Anna Godbersen (416 p)

Another emotional train wreck of an ending.

Cannot wait for October.

1470938 23. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams (144 p)

I've had the whole set for a while (in one big book on clearance!) and just never thought I could get into it. But thanks to a lil ball of fun I call Viv I finally read it. I like it!

message 32: by Sarah (last edited Feb 17, 2009 11:42PM) (new)

1470938 24. The Restaurant at the End of the Universe, Douglas Adams (166 p)(10,436 p so far)

message 33: by Lady Jayne (new)

1453659 Sarah, like seriously?? 24 books already??? I am just soooo depressed now. You're already halfway and it's only February! You are just a reading machine.

580431 Just imagine the numbers if she wasn't a WoWer!

message 35: by Lady Jayne (new)

1453659 Yeah, Jenn. It would be ridiculous! :-)

1470938 25. In the Woods, Tana French. (429 p)(10865 p.t.)

Looooved this book. Thanks Sans for suggesting it! You are the BEST.

Good cookies I don't want to imagine it!

message 39: by Sans (new)

1451884 Y'know, I'm pretty jealous of you. It's taking me forever to read these days. I don't really watch that much TV (3 shows per week) so I don't have that excuse. I just can't focus when I get home. but you work 40 out of 48 hours and finish a 400+ page book in a day. Not fair.

message 40: by Sarah (new)

1470938 lol........

Well if it's any consolation I read really fast. I'm not skimming, either, I just read really fast. Always have. I read both Rumors and Envy in about six hours (not including a break between for you guys!). Like...three hours each...six altogether. Maybe a little less, now that I'm thinking of it.

Anyway. I only watch Fringe & Lie to Me, but I watch them on the internet when I feel up to it. I still haven't watched last weeks eps yet! I feel so out of the loop!

Here was my consolation prize: http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l342/...

Been drooling on that one all week.

message 42: by April (new)

1530348 Oh I love me some Pacey...

message 43: by Sarah (new)

1470938 Yea I'm thinking it's time I watch Dawson's Creek. First he pops up in my new favorite show; then I'm watching this crazy silly video my friend links to me and at the end this guy dies while watching the part where Joey and Dawson are fighting about her and Pacey dating...I'm like, that's two things! Need to watch!

message 44: by Sarah (new)

1470938 I just got five more books in the mail from one of my favorite authors...I LOVE amazon penny sales.

I'm joining this discussion late, but...

Yes, Sarah, watch Dawson's Creek! It's a fun teenage drama. I'm a Dawson girl at heart, so you all can have Pacey with his sailboat. :) If you ever watch the entire series, let us know what you think.

Okay, what is am Amazon penny sale? How do I not know about this???

1066511 *also wondering about the penny sales*

*also sharing the Pacey love* back from when I was in college and my roommate and friend from down the hall were watching Dawson's Creek in my room every week... I figured I might as well just let go and allow myself to get sucked in instead of fighting it. Fortunately it was the year Joey and Pacey got together.

message 48: by Sarah (new)

1470938 Well...not so much sales as the used books for a penny. XD SO with shipping a book is 4.00 flat.

I might have to hold off on renewing my wow subscription for another few weeks and watch the Creek....

Very tempting.

Very.

message 49: by April (new)

1530348 I started watching Dawson's the year that Joey and Pacey got together too... I think that is why I am a Pacey girl... But Dawson does hold a place in my heart! He has been doing an extended cameo on One Tree Hill as a naughty director and I love him!

message 50: by Sarah (new)

1470938 26. Sandstorm, James Rollins. (569 p.)

Love science. Love it.
