Hmmmmm. Give me til the end of the week. If I haven't finished it by Monday, go ahead at tell me. ^o^
I...haven't made much progress on Beautiful Creatures. I'm sorry! I have issues with the South and they're all coming up in that book. And Devoured is SLOOOOOOOOW. I'm reading a P&P what if book right now and that's keeping me happy. I'll try to power through BC by the end of the week! It's hard to skim on Kindle though. I always flip through the book to see what happens but that really doesn't work on ebook readers. >_<Thank you, Lisa! I'm trying to make the last two actual books. Not that manga aren't books, but I'm trying to read books without pictures. XD
88. Fushigi Yûgi Genbu Kaiden, Volume 1 by Watase Yuu4 stars
Ahhhh, it's been so long since I watched the original Fushigi Yûgi anime. This series takes places about 80 before the original series and follows the Priestess of Genbu. Seiryuu seems to be playing a part in this as well. Definitely going to read the rest of this series.
87. Basara, Vol. 1 by Tamura Yumi4 stars
This is going to be an epic story. 27 volumes total and it's already heavy on the action and drama. I'm very curious to find out what happens when Sarasa and Shuri find out who the other really is.
85. Bloody Kiss, Volume 1 by Furumiya Kazuko86. Bloody Kiss, Volume 2 by Furumiya Kazuo
2.5 stars
Again, pretty artwork and mediocre story.
LOL! I didn't realize it was 2 separate volumes until after I was done (read the scanlations online). I'm reading a new manga now, so I'll just count the new ones as separate volumes from now on. Thank you though!!
Sans wrote,"84. Baby Pop vol 1 & 2 by Ogawa Yayoi"If you read Vol 1 & 2 wouldn't each volume deserve it's own number (84, 85)? Trying to help you get closer to your new goal.
Kelly, I was the same way. I read the first few pages on Amazon and was not sure if I should bother or not. My library had it in stock so I figured what the heck. Cabel definitely pushed me into the 'really like this book' camp too. I've got Fade sitting on one of my book shelves but for some reason I just haven't picked it up.

When I first opened this book I was on the fence, because it seems the reviews were you either really liked it or you really hated it.
The beginning few pages had me wondering if I was gonna be in the group with the haters, but after meeting the character Cabel I was sucked right in and forgot about the akward writing.
I can't wait for Monday so I can request the second book. = )
84. Baby Pop vol 1 & 2 by Ogawa Yayoi3.5 stars
Beautiful artwork, fun characters. Not sure about the story though. Ryu married Nagisa's mother (a woman 7 years older than him) but she died in a car accident right after they got married. Ryu wanted to take care of his new step-dauther, even though she hated him at first. They ended up "saving" each other. I kept expecting them to hook up (even though that would have been a little weird). It was sweet how much Ryu loved Nagisa and really did want to be her father.
Yes, Sans, you MUST watch North and South! My mom is heading down today, and we are watching tonight! I can't wait!
LOL! Good to know I'm not the only one who though Marty Stu by the end of chapter one. Oy vey. I haven't read anything the past few days because my brother's in town. He's in Sacramento today and tomorrow, so I'm hoping to get further along. I was trying to not skim but it's dragging me down! I'm definitely going to start skimming now.Yay for North & South!! It's still on my computer and I still need to see it. ~_~
Oh, Jayne, I am glad you are enjoying Jenn's husband, Mr. Miach! I think it's time you spend a moment or too with your Henry/Edward though. It's always best to get reacquainted with one's "friends" lest they feel ignored and become pouty. I know that's how my precious Alex/Jace feels anyway, so I feel a great responsibility to spend time with him often. And what better time than the holidays to spend time with those you love, right?
Reunite with Edward/Henry, my Ewok! :)
Oh, and guess what I'm getting at Christmas tomorrow? NORTH AND SOUTH!!!!! WAHOO!
Ah, yes, Po and Jace do give that Edward a run for his money. But right now, even with the very attractive and strong Prince Miach and that ready smile of his, I am missing a dose of Edward Cullen (my Henry-Edward, that is). ^_^ It's been over a year since I spent any time with him! And at some point next year, I will also need to spend time with Po and Jace again. They are just not the kind of guys you can only spend time with once! Multiple doses are necessary! ^o^
That is exactly what someone from the publisher said to me!! "Move over, Edward Cullen....Ethan will make you forget all about him" Ha! Not even close, for me at least. Now Po and Jace, that's another story.... :)
I know! Someone said something to Melis like, "Move over, Edward Cullen!" Whatever. I thought Ethan was alright, but he was a Marty Stu for me. It felt like they were trying to make him too perfect. I never had a crush on him and definitely didn't SA-WOON. Yes, it's super attractive that he reads Vonnegut (and everything else in the canon), but it takes more than that, like ...oh, maybe some sexy tattoo rings on your biceps, some different colored eyes, some wicked fighting skills, and some super, duper subtle love by someone named Po! :)
No more comments about BC until you are finished. I don't want to cloud your judgement. I can't wait to hear what you think though. If you're like me and Melis, you'll be done fast because you'll be doing a ton of skimming!
So far? Not the next Edward. Sure he reads Vonnegut, but he just doesn't seem that bright right now. I'm 14% through the book (whatever the hell THAT means) and Amma is freaking out about the locket. Maybe he'll grow on me further in the book? But I'm highly doubtful Ethan here will reach Po or Edward status. *sighs* Po. I need a Po fix.
Sans, YOU CAN DO IT!
How are you doing with Beautiful Creatures? Do you think Ethan is the next Edward Cullen? After you read, I'll tell you why I asked that. Or maybe Melissa can.
Sans wrote: "I'm 1/3 of the way through Devoured and I started Beautiful Creatures at the chiropractor. I'm so gonna make it!"
I can't wait to see what you think of Beautiful Creatures!

83. Nightlight A Parody by Harvard Lampoon1.5 stars
It was too long at 160 pages. Ugh. First few chapters were funny, then it got stupid, then it was just depressing. Exactly like a stand-up comic carries a joke waaaaay too far because people laughed the first time.
82. Born to be Bad by Sherrilyn Kenyon3.75 stars
I can't remember laughing so much at a smutty book before. I get the impression it was supposed to be funny. I just don't think it was supposed to be THAT funny. Considering there were 3 short stories in this book, I accept that I was not going to get a lot of character development or any meaningful plots. There are a couple characters mentioned in each story that I would really like to read about, so I'll get the next book in the series from the library.
I want to make it to 300, but I doubt I'll make it. Too much to do and too little time to do it. But lets both give it a good shot. :)
I wonder if I can make it to 90 or more books in the next 2.5 weeks. Hmmmmmm. I'm certainly going to try!
Sans,
Is this the first time you have read it? I feel remiss in my duties if you were unaware that it was out there.
81. Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer5+ stars
This is so much better than Twilight. At least I think so. I love when they're in the car, heading home from Port Angeles and Edward is thinking about the kind of mental care he can get Bella in an institution. Good stuff. Now, if only the full book would be released...

yep there is suppose to be a sequel

80. Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick3.5 stars
Hmmmmmmm. >_< I have a bit of a headache from this book. I liked it. I liked bits of it a lot. But I've definitely got some problems with it. Pretty much everything Jen said, I agree with. What I really want to know
***SPOILERS***
is how the hell can Patch be lusting after Nora and kissing her if he's an angel again?? Do guardian angels get special nookie privileges or something?
I'm glad I read it. I did enjoy it. But. *shrugs* It's flaws are bugging me right now. Isn't there a sequel or something coming out? Or am I mixing up series.
79. Twilight by Stephanie MeyerI've been re-reading this on the Kindle during lunch breaks. It's interesting to read it at a slower pace instead of inhaling it in one sitting (and usually in the middle of the night when I should be in bedfordshire). The writing flaws are annoying me a bit more this time, but I still love the book so much. I'm starting on New Moon during lunch today. ^o^
78. Again The Magic by Lisa Kleypas4 stars
Woot! Finally read a Kleypas book! I don't really count the other one since it was her first book ever and was utter shite.
I really did enjoy this one. Even though I was hoping Gideon would actually end up with Adam, I was happy with how the couples fell into place. A tad over dramatic, especially between Aline and McKenna, but I still loved it.
Confession: My friend and I took turns reading this to each other during our trip. It was awesome but also made it seem pretty ridiculous so I can't give it 5 stars.
Also, that friend and I have decided that we're going to make our fortune by writing trashy romance novels together. We got tipsy on Irish coffees after a fire alarm went off in the hostel and we were stuck outside in the freezing cold night for 45 minutes. We decided that if some of the books we've read can make it to the NY Times bestseller list, we can too. So we've got a trilogy planned, fleshed out more of the plot for the first book and decided on it's title, and even have our pseudonym. It's going to be epic.
77. Awaken Me Darkly by Gena Showalter3 stars
I really wanted to like this book. And a lot of it was good. But seriously? Having everything wrapped up in a few pages didn't do it for me. And having Mia ranting and raving about ass kicking and killing aliens for 354 pages and suddenly be happy and sunny and feminine for the last few? I'm not buying it.
I'd also have liked more explanation about HOW the aliens got there in the first place. Some world building would have been nice. Maybe I need to expand my futuristic/sci-fi romance boundaries a bit, but it just felt...rushed. I already know any heroine in this kind of book is going to be the tough, take no prisoners type. You don't need to expound on her fighting abilities and ass kickery any more.
Okay, maybe I didn't like this book a lot more than I first thought. But dammit! It could have been so GOOD. If only the author gave it a bit more time and attention. And detail. I think I'll get the next one from the library. I've noticed that a lot of first books in series kinda suck but the rest are usually better.
Wow, that's a pretty impressive record. I bet her publisher is pleased. I was going to check out Alien Huntress and the Atlantis series next. I flipped through the first Underworld book and it seems pretty angsty. I'm in the mood for a bit more fluff right now. Which is also why I'm not reading the historical werewolf book right now. I want humor, dammit!
Sans, I've read all her Lords of the Underworld series. I like her too. I haven't checked out Catch A Mate though. I have one of her Atlantis books too, but I haven't read it yet. I was just looking at her Wikipedia information and she cracks out books pretty quickly. Her first book came out in 2004 and she's got about 24 books and 3 anthology stories under her belt. Looks like 3 more books are coming out next year.
76. Catch A Mate by Gena Showalter4.5 stars
A new author for me to obsess over! Woohoo! Very funny, very hawt (Marcus and Jillian's first time had me opening the window in the hope that the 20 degree breeze cool me down), sweet and a little scary. Dear lord, the pickup lines. *shudders in horror* Every chapter starts with some gawd-awful piece of twaddle that you KNOW some man has used before. I think my favourite had to be, "Do you live on a chicken farm? No? Well, you sure do know how to raise cocks."
*headdesk*
