Gina (My Precious) | 13 comments Hey All,

We are rapidly approaching the end of the first quarter of 2012. It looks as if everyone is doing well with this challenge, reading lots of great books.

So, I'm curious, what has been your favorite 2012 Debut book thus far?

Its a tough pick for me, I've not come across any 5 stars reads, yet. I'd say its a toss up between Pure and Cinder.

How about you???

What's Your Favorite Debut in 2012?

Mackenzie (Oh, For the Love of Books!) | 10 comments Oh goodness, I can't pick just one! Cinder, Pure and Scarlet were all 5 stars for me :)

message 3: by Angie (new)

Angie (pinkindle) Actually the first quarter IS over as of March 31. :)

My favorite was definitely Born Wicked (The Cahill Witch Chronicles, #1).

Fara Nani | 4 comments Mine is definitely Cinder =D

Hannah*Inky* | 7 comments Cinder and Everneath!

Jenny - Book Sojourner (TeaParty5) | 1 comments I loved Under the Never Sky, Cinder, and Cracked.

Elisquared | 3 comments I really loved Starters! It was such a great debut, and an interesting dystopia!

Shaheen (speculatef) Cinder, followed very closely by Pure.

I'm yet to read Starters and Born Wicked though, and while I enjoyed Everneath it wasn't as good as I'd expected.

Daph (Lvngbooks) (lvngbooks) | 1 comments Cinder, closely followed by Under the Never Sky. I've only read 7 debuts so far this year, but I hope to read many more! I enjoyed Starters and Everneath but they weren't as good as Cinder (which was the biggest surprise of the year for me so far) and UtNS :)

Kathryne [Paperback Fantasies] (paperbackfantasies) | 2 comments Most definitely Under the Never Sky! Though I have yet to read Cinder...

Tamara (bookruckus) | 2 comments I'd say that Wicked as They Come (Blud, #1) and Unraveling are at the top of my list so far :)

Jessica - The Midnight Bookworm Woodward (TheMidnightBookworm) | 6 comments I've only read one so far, Incarnate, and I loved it... So I guess that's my favorite for the quarter :)

I'm hoping to tackle more debuts this next quarter.

Tressa (Tressa's Wishful Endings) | 1 comments My favorite is Edenbrooke. My second would be Cinder.

I hadn't heard of Scarlet, awesome about having 3 which were 5 stars.

Oops sorry 'bout that. My bad, March 31st it is...

As for Born Wicked, I've heard mixed reviews. Its one I'm still looking forward to reading, happy to know you liked it!

Izabela C (izibellz) Definitely Scarlet and Storm ... both are action-packed and romantic and just plain FUN!! :) :)

Sarah (sarahcake) | 1 comments I really loved Everything You Need to Survive the Apocalypse. So good!

message 20: by Leslie (new)

Leslie | 1 comments I really enjoyed the snarky humor in Croaked, and I thought the author did a terrific job of crafting an odd little corner of the universe that goes overlooked by the rest of humankind.
I listened to the audiobook of Under the Never Sky and absolutely loved the character development in that one! I'm looking forward to the follow-up to learn more about some of the characters (like Liv, for example) who are a small part of this first novel but will hopefully be fleshed out further in the future.
I'm currently listening to Cinder (it's the only way to motivate myself to get on that darn exercise bike) as an audiobook, and thus far, it's terrific too. What an awesome crop of debut novels this year! I'm sure I'm bound to hit a clinker sooner or later; I can't possibly keep picking winners at random.

Jessica (BookRockGodess) Bolton (BookRockGodess) | 3 comments I have to say my favorite is Scarlet but I am almost finished with Cinder so I would have to say I love it to!

I've not heard of either of those I'll have to go check them out.

Yes, I agree, there seems to be an overabundance of great debuts this year. I've read and enjoyed Cinder. Under the Never Sky is at my local library for digital books. I'm interested in reading it too.

Scarlet seems to be popping up a lot here. I'm not familiar with it but it must be worth checking into. Thanks!

Julia Muldoon (PiscesMuse) | 2 comments I feel like I have been really out of the loop with debutes this year. That last Debute I read was Under the Never Sky. And that was for last quarter. Good book though!

Julia Muldoon (PiscesMuse) | 2 comments Wait, does 50 shades of grey count. Naughty (and in places badly written) but thoroughly entertaining.

Alexa (woven) | 1 comments Definitely Grave Mercy (His Fair Assassin, #1). :)

Lynda Meyers (authorlyndameyers) | 1 comments Letters From the Ledge
Winner of the 2012 Next Generation Indie Book Award for Young Adult.

I am also going to take a lot of these recommendations and start adding to my TBR pile! I always prefer to listen to discerning readers rather than relying on the big bestseller lists, because I've often been disappointed by what was popular but not necessarily well-written.

Mackenzie (Oh, For the Love of Books!) | 10 comments ALEXA: GRAVE MERCY was fantastic! A whopping 5 stars for me!!! Glad you liked it XD

Yes, I've read nothing but great reviews on this one.

I really want to read that one, I've heard its surprisingly good.

Karis (YA Litwit) Jacobstein (YALitwit) | 3 comments Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo!!! It is the best High Fantasy since Graceling! A MUST READ!

message 35: by Linda (new)

Linda Ulleseit | 1 comments Cinder is my favorite! I read it and shared it with my sixth graders and it made their list of the top 16 all-time favorites.
