1054578 His taste in books is rather limited, I must admit.

message 24: by Newengland (new)

730754 If so, I suspect some college-aged intern has been assigned the task of "Being Obie."

message 23: by Beejay (new)

1054578 Definitely the cardboard version I'm referring to there, folks, so, please, no offence meant.

Actually, Newengland, I think you could be correct in saying he is rather cerebral. He is, after all, a member of GR, isn't he?

message 22: by Debbie (new)

686757 I think she's just referring to the 2-D cardboardness of the one in Ruth's lounge! At least I hope so....I like Obama.

message 21: by Newengland (new)

730754 Why do you think Obie lacks substance? I know substance abuse is a terrible thing, but I think he's rather cerebral.

message 20: by Beejay (new)

1054578 Wonder if I can get a cardboard Rambo to keep the burglars out?

Got to admit, your President doesn't seem to have much substance, and I don't imagine his dinner table conversation is up to much either.

message 19: by Newengland (new)

730754 And not just a caricature.

message 18: by The New Maria (new)

703325 I'm guessing he's very talkative.

message 17: by Mikki (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 Yeah Barack wonder if he is just a Cardboard Pin Up or he really is such a marketing savvy Dude, Im all for inviting him over with that smart wife of his!

message 16: by Ruth (new)

335159 Forget Nixon. Barack is still in my living room and my living room is in San Clemente.

message 15: by Newengland (new)

730754 He's got San Clemente? I thought that was Nixon (the Frostbitten).

message 14: by Ruth (new)

335159 Hawaii vacation, ha. People just think he's in Hawaii. Why go to Hawaii when he's got San Clemente?

message 13: by Newengland (new)

730754 Maybe your bro will send you a cut-out of Obama from his Hawaii vacation. (Well, it'll take care of the suit and tie problem and reduce it to a suit.)

message 12: by Ruth (new)

335159 We've been in this house a year and a half, and this is the first time there's been a suit and tie in it.

message 11: by Boreal Elizabeth (new)

1365485 yes but obviously he is only "making an appearance" as he has not taken off his suit coat

hee hee

i think i want one

335159 Sorry, Sarah. I thought I'd answered your question, but it doesn't show up here. My brother sent it to me, and he ordered it from some place on the internet. Apparently all he had to do was google "cardboard Obama."

David, almost every time I walk into the living room and catch sight of him out of the corner of my eye, I'm startled.

message 9: by David (new)

1287856 That's all too real-looking.

message 8: by Ruth (last edited Dec 23, 2008 09:47PM) (new)

335159 My brother sent it to me.

He joined us at the table last night.

message 7: by Sarah (new)

247119 WHERE did you get it???

message 6: by David (new)

1287856 I'll take Ambassador to Rome, if I don't have to channel Claire Booth Luce.

1365485 can we expect a cabinet appointment for you or leif?
or perhaps offical white house poetess?

message 4: by Ruth (new)

335159 We had some discussion last night as to where he could sleep. Should we have given up our kingsized bed? He's kind of tall for the sofabed in Leif's office.

The secret service men had to sleep in their car.

message 3: by David (new)

1287856 Do I detect a whiff of brimstone?

message 2: by Debbie (new)

686757 Hahahaha!! Bring him round for a virtual eggnog!
