message 793: by Mary JL (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 The blizzard warnings have now been issued; and the winds are really strating to howl. At least 9 inces predicted. so far, no power loss!

message 792: by BunWat (new)

747169 Everybody be safe in or better, out of, the blizzards!

message 791: by Larry (new)

1144499 Excellent view.

message 790: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 I bet you have a good view, too, Larry.

message 789: by Larry (new)

1144499 Blizzard conditions here right now! I am so happy to be safe and warm inside.

message 788: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 I drove to Target late this afternoon to get organizational bins for a cleaning project...holy CRAP that's a lot of freezing rain. Dangerous out there tonight.

message 787: by Larry (new)

1144499 Prediction is for 9 to 12 inches of new snow in Omaha tonight/tomorrow. I am also pleased that we are staying put. Friends in the building are coming for dinner tomorrow, just a quick elevator ride away.

1757741 ice everywhere with rainy stuff coming down. slicker than hugh grant at an office party out. windshields keep icing over. wish it were reg ol snow

message 785: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 Here's what just emerged on the local newspaper website:

The forecast calls for snow to start falling Wednesday afternoon or evening, perhaps an inch or two of accumulation, which is expected to change over to sleet, freezing rain and rain into Thursday. Rain is expected to persist through Thursday night and into Christmas Day.

Wow. I'm so glad I'm not going anywhere. In fact, I'm glad my kids aren't in the Christmas Eve thing because I wouldn't want to catch that, either. Although I'm tempted to hit midnight mass...

message 784: by Gretchen (new)

187563 If only!

message 783: by Mary JL (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 Gretchen: You may have my share of our freezing rain!

289556 It's 40s and dry, here. I may go frolic outside. :)

message 781: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 If I had to drive anywhere on the interstate in this I'd play the "lets protect the baby" card and NOT GO.

message 780: by Larry (new)

1144499 Aren't families wonderful, though?

message 779: by Jim (new)

1668388 That's the spirit Gretchen :-)

message 778: by Gretchen (new)

187563 I wish we would get freezing rain tonight so I could get out of going to my in-laws.

message 777: by Sarah Pi (new)

642041 Freezing rain is predicted here on Friday, to turn our two feet of snow to goop and then frozen goop. I am hoping it gets better by Sunday.
I couldn't get up the little hill in my neighborhood this morning because of ice. I couldn't get any traction, even in first gear. I had to back down, turn around, and go all the way around on main streets. It doesn't bode well.

message 776: by Gretchen (new)

187563 We're getting 45 degrees and rain for Christmas. :(

message 775: by RandomAnthony (last edited 2 days ago, 06:21AM) (new)

721021 Yes, I'm with you, Mary and Jim. I'm going home around noon and not leaving until this stops. I guess we're getting more rain near the lake, with temps near forty, but still...who wants to spend Christmas Eve on the interstate?

message 774: by Jim (new)

1668388 If I understood the weatherman right this morning, we will start getting snow this evening, with a Winter Storm warning, followed tomorrow with rain, freezing rain and then snow again. I'm glad I have no where I have to be.

::Just keep smiling Bun::

message 773: by Mary JL (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 Right, Ra, but the really fun part is to get halfway and then spend Christmas Eve stuck in an airport!!

message 772: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 Yes, people are talking Christmas Eve, eh? That should be interesting...at least we're not going anywhere...travelers might be screwed. Or they'll have a good excuse to avoid travel.

message 771: by Mary JL (new)

Nophoto-f-25x33 When giving the forecast tonight our weathercaser joked, " Everyone praying for a White Christmas--you can stop now".

The real fun part is the freezing rain predicted first.

message 770: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 Snowsnowsnowsno!

We're only supposed to get 6 or 7 inches before Christmas, but it sounds like this storm will be gigantic when it moves out to over the midwest.

Pull up your pants, RA/Kevin/Jim. Here comes another round!

message 769: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 Christmas came early, to your kids, I bet.

message 768: by Gretchen (new)

187563 Yep. Northern VA. Just outside DC. We NEVER get this much snow so I guess it's a big deal but it seems pretty premature to shut down school for 3 days!! Apparently they are extremely confident in their inability to deal with this much snow.

message 767: by Mary (new)

1181579 Gretchen wrote: "I stand corrected. Schools are closed MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. They were off Thursday and Friday anyway. sigh."

My stepkids didn't get to miss any school because they got out for Christmas break on Friday. Muwahahahaha!!

message 766: by Larry (new)

1144499 Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus.

message 765: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 Where are you at exactly? Virginia?

message 764: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 WOW! Three days of planned snow days?!!? That rocks!

25 1/2 inches sounds awesome.

message 763: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 Gretchen wrote: "I stand corrected. Schools are closed MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. They were off Thursday and Friday anyway. sigh."

Wow! They made that call already? Amazing...that would never happen here...at least you can plan ahead of time.

289556 That's a heck of lot of snow! Yikes, Sarah Pi!

message 761: by Gretchen (new)

187563 I stand corrected. Schools are closed MONDAY, TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. They were off Thursday and Friday anyway. sigh.

message 760: by Sarah Pi (new)

642041 25 1/2 inches! Great snowy weekend and crossed fingers for a snow day tomorrow as well. I dug my car out just in case but my neighborhood doesn't get plowed so the roads are no fun. C'mon snow day!

message 759: by Lori (new)

744602 I keep looking out my window expecting to see at least a foot, what with all the pictures and news all over the web, and here too. Alas, nothing but the usual gray dreariness here.

message 758: by Gretchen (new)

187563 Yep, 2 feet. It's good snow, though. Light and fluffy...easy to shovel. We're pathetic about snow around here, though. I'll bet schools are closed tomorrow even though it stopped snowing last night.

message 757: by Larry (new)

1144499 My daughter says they have almost 2 feet in DC right now, and still coming down.

message 756: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 How's the storm shaping up, Gretchen?

message 755: by RandomAnthony (last edited 6 days ago, 08:55AM) (new)

721021 Oh, thanks, Jim! I was wondering what the hell was going on....with the Whitewater game...

I predict a Whitewater victory!

message 754: by Jim (new)

1668388 It delayed the start of the Div 3 championship game from 11:00 until 4:00 allowing time to hopefully get the field cleared off. The University of Wisconsin Whitewater (just down the road) is playing in the game for the 5th year in a row, against Mount Union Ohio. Yes the same two teams have made it to the Championship game 5 years in a row. UWW is only 1 -3 so far though.

message 753: by Angie (new)

2343573 It's finally snowing here!

I am excited since this is my first snow in a year and a half but if it keeps it up, I might retract my excitement.

For now, yippee!

message 752: by Mary (new)

1181579 Yeah, we're getting hammered here in VA. I should be sleeping right now but I have a feeling I am not gonna make it in to work tonight.

message 751: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 20 inches in the northeast?

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/34477381/ns/...

message 750: by Mary (new)

1181579 I'm kind of excited! The weather prognosticators are prognosticating A LOT of snow for us on Saturday and Sunday.

On the other hand...I am supposed to work Saturday night so I can expect a lot of harrassing phone calls during the day while I'm trying to sleep. My plan is to say, "well, I was gonna come in but I had to get up and answer the fucking phone ten fucking times and now I'm awake and too fucking pissed off to go back to sleep so fucking forget it! I ain't coming. You fuckwit."

Also we tend to lose power out here in the cuh-huntry in bad weather which means no running water. That kind of sucks, shower-wise.

1144499 There used to be a site called thefuckitbucket.com. I think it went away, though. It was cool.

No! I was wrong! It's back!
