1144499 That's because you're cool, Jim.

message 652: by BunWat (new)

747169 I got two weeks of hot weather in August. That was it. Other than that its been April weather from April to October.

Aw thanks Larry.

Didn't have much of a growing season did you Bun.

message 655: by BunWat (new)

747169 I did not. I got plenty of kale and onions and the garlic did well, and I've got parsnips and turnips, but the hot weather veggies just sulked. Its a very Russian garden this year.

AH HA!!! Knew you had to be from somewhere close to be sticking up for me as a Cubs fan!!!

They all keep well though, and hopefully the farmers market filled in for the garden deficencies.

Kevin, Sue and Books are Cubs fans too.

message 659: by BunWat (new)

747169 The farmers are growing their vegetables in the same weather as I am. Everybody had trouble. Luckily some of them have greenhouses, which helps.

message 660: by Jim (new)

1668388 I had a great crop of tomatoes, but the peppers weren't good. Onions and garlic did well too.

message 661: by BunWat (new)

747169 We had a huge outbreak of tomato and potato blight.

message 662: by Jim (new)

1668388 That will sure put a damper on the crop, cold wet weather will do that though.

Here's hoping that you have a mild winter to help offset your summer.

message 663: by BunWat (new)

747169 That would be nice.

1594222 It's finally getting chilly here in SoCal. I broke out my hoodie for work. Yay!

But it's supposed to be in the 80's this weekend. Grrrr!

message 665: by Angie (new)

2343573 It is 76 here.

... I don't know how I feel about that.

message 666: by Jamie (new)

2711688 It was actually warm here today, and as of 7p.m it's still warm... nice cool/warm wind (does that make sense?) I think it was around 65 but it felt a little warmer than that..

289556 Really, really windy out there. And rainy, off and on. I got some upper body exercise during my walk fighting with my umbrella!

Excuse me, I have to go comb my hair now...

message 668: by Larry (new)

1144499 Beautiful here today -- lots of wind, though.

message 669: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 Really windy here, too....supposed to be a beautiful weekend, low sixties, probably the last great autumn weekend...

289556 It's everything here, today. It was pouring while I was getting ready for work, sunny and blue skies as I walked to the bus stop, overcast and drizzly from the bus to the office.
Chance of thunderstorms, they're saying...

message 671: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 We happily don't have wind here for once. Nice clear blue skies, 75 degrees. Big change from last week.

289556 What happened to the snow?

message 673: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 All gone. It was nearly 80 on Wednesday.

message 674: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 Way, way warm for late November in Wisconsin. 50 this morning when I was out running. I don't see any high lower then the upper thirties for the next ten days, either.

message 675: by Jim (new)

1668388 I still go out and get the paper barefoot. There were a lot of people in shorts this weekend to. Really weird for WI.

message 676: by Heidi (new)

1002888 We're definitely having an indian summer. It's lovely! :)

message 677: by Sarah Pi (new)

642041 We're not supposed to see sun all week. I'm checking three different weather reports, to make sure I can get into and out of everyplace. I'm terrified of getting stuck in Toronto the day before I'm supposed to fly out of DC. I don't mind continuous travel, but isolated trips set up back to back make me nervous.

message 678: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 I"m jealous. Its freaking cold here.

message 679: by Larry (new)

1144499 It's rainy and dreary here.

289556 Cloudy rainy and cold here, too. It's like walking through clouds outside, that misty wetness that an umbrella can't protect you from.

message 681: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 It is supposed to be -4 tonight. Brrrr!

message 682: by Larry (new)

1144499 Nippy here, too. The wind! How I hate it!

289556 Brrr, Sally! I thought it being 31 here was bad, but I see I was wrong.

message 684: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 Whoo! Minus 4? I think we hit lows in the mid-twenties here. But, like Larry, we've got some wind coming today...wonder when they'll start reporting wind chill...

message 685: by Larry (new)

1144499 The wind in Omaha is an evil force. It greets me every morning when I walk out the front door this time of year. It stings. It bites. It blows.

message 686: by Jim (new)

1668388 We finally received our first measurable snow fall, about 2". Now to get my winter driving patience back.

message 687: by Sally , masters master(er) (new)

966475 Two days of temperatures above 20 and now we're back down in the teens, with a foot of snow on the ground and snow in the forecast for the next two days.
Winter wonderland, anyone?

message 688: by BunWat (new)

747169 Its going to be "really cold" tonight. 44 and raining. Bwahahahaha!!!]

Back in New York today's HIGH was 33. Bwahahahahaha!!!

message 689: by Larry (new)

1144499 Shut up!

It's about 22 here, with a few inches of snow coming tonight.

message 690: by RandomAnthony (last edited 21 days ago, 03:08PM) (new)

721021 Yes, this looks to be our first real winter week...a little snow tomorrow and Tuesday, a lot later in the week, and then highs in the teens by Thursday...ah...welcome, worthy foe of winter...

Buns isn't missing that NY weather, eh? She's almost giddy:)

message 691: by Jim (new)

1668388 I know, her post almost scared me she seems so happy to be away from the NY winter.

message 692: by BunWat (new)

747169 That's right people, I am not wearing long underwear, two layers of wool, and a hat - indoors - while I figure out what to sell to pay the fuel oil company this time. Neener neener fuel oil company!

message 693: by Larry (new)

1144499 So your house in NY is like ... what ... freezing up now?

message 694: by BunWat (new)

747169 Shut down, pipes drained, heat tape on the well.

message 695: by Larry (new)

1144499 Excellent. Should have known.

message 696: by BunWat (new)

747169 All teddibly organized, me.

message 697: by RandomAnthony (new)

721021 What's heat tape?

I let out my dogs at 2:45AM this morning and I think they saw snow for the first time. They didn't look particularly alarmed...they sniffed at the falling flakes and pushed their noses along the ground. They also took a little longer outside than usual because they were trying to figure out what was up, I think. And I was reminded that black dogs covered with snow are a beautiful sight.

What state are you in again, RA? Who else is going to be affected by this giant, pink, schlong-shaped storm?

message 699: by Larry (last edited 20 days ago, 08:46AM) (new)

1144499 I'm watching out my office window right now. I think everyone will be gone out of here by noon. I'm in the lower left part of the pink. RA and Jim are in the top right. Looks like some pink and purple over the Front Range, too.

message 700: by Larry (new)

1144499 Heat tape is tape with an electric heating element in it.
