Nicole D. (TheReadingRebel) | 1226 comments Fanny Price is the heroine. She is nothing like any of the other Austen heroines.I really love Fanny Price she has a strong sense of right and wrong. She is sweet, gentle and shows respect to people who don't deserve it.Henry Crawford IMO is one of JA worst bad boys.

I think Mansfield Park is worth reading and rereading.

message 13: by Alice, that crazy moderator (new)

Alice | 4261 comments Mod
OR CATHERINE PARR!!! or Mary Tudor(Henry VIII sister)?

Steph | 591 comments Yes, Alice is right - Perhaps Young Bess, it is a great book to start with - Elisabeth is such an interesting young lady and her story of how she grew up, experienced the harsh reality and treatment of being Anne Boleyn’s daughter, the famous love's of her life, to her destiny of becoming one of the strongest rulers of all times - a must read Young Bess

Oh and love your new photo by the way :)

message 18: by Alice, that crazy moderator (new)

Alice | 4261 comments Mod
and has anyone read Captain, My Captain by Deborah Meroff ??? looking for info.

Steph | 591 comments I thought it was a good book giving us insight on her young life with all the sadness and isolation she felt - Margaret Irwin did a great job projecting her strength and how she overcome her difficulties. Really makes you wonder how by nature she inherited such strength from both her parents because she lost her mother so young and wasn't around her father all that much, it’s quite amazing.

I also liked the horse and his boy but not sure why everyone thought it was the BEST. I liked the Magicians Nephew! :D

Reianna (ReiannaO) | 11 comments Anytime people ask me what my favorite book is, I never know what to say. I mean, how could I possibly choose? If I was forced to create a list, though, it'd probably be something like this.

Airman, A Hopeful Heart, Ashes of Roses, Princess Academy, Dark Waters Rising, A Northern Light, Cast Two Shadows: The American Revolution in the South, Anne of Green Gables (whole series), The Forest of Hands and Teeth, The Guardians of Time Trilogy, Little Women, Graceling, Pellinor Series, Two Girls of Gettysburg, Emma, Bayern Quartet and Pride & Prejudice.

Haha, kind of defeats the purpose of having a favorite book. :) But really, I can't choose! They all bring something unique. One isn't better than the other. They're equal in different ways. And I'm sure, especially with summer fast approaching, I'll be adding quite a few books to that list.

Though, if I were forced to pick a favorite series, I'd probably go with the Bayern quartet. Loved those so much!

lol, that was a great scene in the adaptation. Persuasion has to be the only Austen novel that I really couldn't put down (like a suspense novel)--I had to find out what was going to happen to Wentworth and Anne <3

The letter has to be the best, most romantic thing I've ever read <333
