Daniel shoved the warm covers off his bed and pulled the curtians back from the window. It was just before dawn, another beautiful day.
((should we start right before the war?))

Streaching, he blinked before changing into somesimple trousers. 'Another day on the farm.' He thought happily. He loved work. It was something everybody should do. Something to be enjoyed. He took the stairs two at a time.

Lissie walked through town greeting everyone with a smile, and friendly wave. With a flourish of her gown, she entered the general goods store, and bought the flour that papa had said they needed. 'It's a lovely day!' She thought, cheerfully.

"Children time to wakey wakey!" Maria said to her oldest children.

Alexander stumbled sleepily out of bed and reached for his clothes. From the other side of the curtain that seperated the loft, Emilia called out, "Okay, Mama, I'm up!"

((I dunno how well off you want them to be... I keep thinking Little House on the Prairie! (the show) ))

"Good get dressed and come down for some coffee and porridge" Maria said picking up the baby.

Emilia pulled a brush through her long brown hair and parted it down the middle. She picked out two hair ribbons and started down the ladder. She took a seat at the table and helped herself to breakfast.

Alexander came down a minute later, all dressed. Graham woke up in his trundle and started calling for Mama.

Maria walked softly over to graham "Morning sweetie" she said in a soft coo.

Eva came thumping down as well, her hair sticking up in every direction and her dress half-buttoned. She sat down next to Emilia, pursed up her mouth, lowered her eyebrows and comanded imperiously, "Button me."
Emilia rolled her eyes and gave that age-old reply, "What's the magic word?"
"Puh-lee-as." Eva said exasperatedly.
Emilia buttoned her up with a grin and Eva condesended to give her a sarcastic "THANK you."

Once Alexander had inhaled about half the food on the table he jumped up from the table and streaked toward the door- but so hasty was his escape that he ran head-long into a chair, and sent it clattering across the room. The sudden, loud noise frightened Oliver who started shrieking, which made Graham start bellowing, so Eva began crying just so she wouldn't be left out.

"Hi Sam! What are we doing today?" He asked, munching on some breakfast. Sam smiled at Daniels entusiasim.
"I dunno mister..."Sam murrumerd. Daniel rolled his eyes and swalloed.
"I told you not to call me 'mister' Its just Daniel Sam." he said before taking an apprecitave drink of water. Sam smiled uncertainly.

As she walked back home, Lissie noted the crisp feeling of the air, Autumn is coming on... She thought, before entering through the back door into the kitchen. "Oh, thank 'ee miss!" Their cook said, taking the flour, "I dunno what I woulda done withou' 'ee!" Lissie smiled sweetly, and excused herself.

"Oh My!! What I am I going to do with you five?" Maria asked going around to make sure everyone was all right.

Daniel walked out into the crisp autum air and breathed deeply.
"Sam, which way? We plowin today?" Daniel asked earnestly. suddenly, Aunt May came running out, shouting:
"Daniel! Daniel! Your ma wants you to go to town! Miss Annie's sick, and she needs a doctor!"
((Annie is his little sister!))

"alexander you are in charge I have to go to the general store for a while, do not be naughty!!" Maria said while kissing each of them goodbye "But I will bring Graham with me" she said taking the baby then walki8ng out the door.

Daniel stoped midstep and bolted toward the house again. Annie was already sick with a disease called diptheria, and her throat had been swollen for a month. Now she was more sick? He saddled a horse and galloped off to a general store that was ((?)) 5-6 miles away.

Lissie went back to town to find the book store. I simply must find a way to entertain myself!

Daniel finally arrived and jumping out of the saddle, he handed the riegns to one of the workers.
"Thanks Tom..."He said breathlessly, rushing into the store."
"Why hello mr. Daniel. How can i help you?"
Danile rushed over to the store keeper, Laurence."It annie- shes getting worse!" The store keeper nodded, his grizzy gray hair flopping into disarry.
"I rthought she might. We might have to use leaches...." Laurence trailed off and dissapeard behind a pile of clumsy 'organized' piles.

Lissie felt someone tap her shoulder, and turned around, surprised.
"Elisabeth?" An elderly woman asked.
"Oh, Missus Moore!" Lissie exclaimed, "How've you been?"
"Better," Mrs. Moore replied, smiling, "You've grown up quite a bit since I've seen you."
"Thank you," Lissie said, not entirely sure if that was a compliment.
"You're welcome, little one. What are you doing out and about so early in the day?"
"Trying to find a book," Lissie responded, "But I can't seem to choose one!"

"Thanks Laurence..." Daniel muttered, pushing himself ack on the horse.
"Anytime- you tell that sister of yours to get better will ya? My candy isle in overflowing with treats." Daniels nodded, and slid the medice into the saddle bag. Then he rode off with out another word.

"Perhaps I can help," Mrs. Moore volunteered. Lissie nodded gratefully, and they began looking through the books and chatting aimlessly.

Daniel jumped off of his horse, Maerlin, and raced in to the house. Sam took to Merlin and daniel was more than grateful. He rushed to the room and saw his mother, pale from exustion leaning against Annies door.

Lissie was soon armed with an armful of novels, and she paid for them, before trudging her way through town and back home, peering over the stack of books she was carrying. "Lissie," Her mother said, scornfully, "You cannot read so many novels! It cannot be good for you!" Her father just laughed, and patted his wife's hand, "There there, it's a harmless pasttime, if there ever was one." Lissie smiled towards her Papa, and nodded, before making her way up the stairs into her room.

"Ma? Hows Annie doin'? I broght somthin to help clear her throat- Laurence said not to do leaches just yet..." Daniel murrmurd leaning down to look his mother in the eye.

Lissie closed her eyes, and picked on of the books, smiling at her choice. She dashed back outside, calling to her parents that she'd 'be back before dark, and wouldn't talk to any strangers'. She then found a secluded area under a tree in the forest near the town, and settled down, slowly opening the book.

"Shes doin better, but you shouldnt go in." her mother said tieredly, taking the small jar from Daniel.
"Good boy- im glad you can help your sister in such a fast manner." Danile smiled but backed away. Suddenly, Sam burst in the hall way, yelling,:
"Virginia's secceded missus! A wars gonna start!"
((is that ok to just start it like that?))

((I guess *shrugs* I dunno how it started.))
All the sudden, cries were heard throughout the village, and Lissie - curious - shut her book, and jumped up to go see what the commotion was about. Her good friend, Lilly caught her arm, "Virginia won."

Daniel couldn't believe that his state had droped away from the u.s.
"What? But thats impossible! I- i thought we were going to avoid the war! "He swore and banged his fist on the wall. quickly, coughs emerged from Annies room and the local doctor came out.
"I can't help her right now...i need more tools...What did you say?" the fat manasked, loking hazily at Daniel.
"War..."

Lissie's eyes widened, "What do you mean, Lilly?" She gasped. "Virginia won the battle," She clarified, "I'm off to tell my brother. He'll be wanting to go join the army and help win the war." Lissie shook her head, "The war?" "Well, yes, silly!"

"What are we going to do?"The doctor was still rambling on hystaricly.
"Forst, your going to tell me what i should do to help my younger sister." Daniel stated calmly. "we'll work our way from there." He finished, giving a pointed look at his mother. If daniel needed to save anything but his siter, it would be the palntation he lived on.

Lissie just stared after Lilly as she - Lilly - ran home. Lissie then turned on her heel, and raced home to find her father standing at attention on the porch, looking grim, "Lissie, I've been drafted."

Daniel pushed his horse faster, even though it had allready been a hard ride for both. Annie needed a better doctor, and almost all of the doctors had been drafted to help the army. Finally, daniel reached the nearest north state. He planned to ride all the way to the city that his doctor had told him to go to, but a line of troups stopped his passage.
"What is your buisness in the north sir?"One man asked statly.
"Medicene and a doctor for my sister- she has diptheria, and-" The soilder interrupted him.
"Move on then."Due to this brief but annoying stop, Daniel could only make it a fourth way to his direction.

Lissie's mother and she had the same reaction to the news, fainting. Lissie woke up, with multiple faces hovering over her and wiping her head with a wet cloth. "I want to go outside," Lissie complained, pushing away the hands, "I'm fine. I'm going outside."

Daniel walked into the dusty hotel and braced himself.Walking confidently towards the check in desk, he stated:
"I'd like a room for the night sir." He murrmurd quitely. The clerk gave him a look of disgust.
"I wont serve any southerners." he snapped, turning his back on Daniel.
"Ah, come on sir, i didn't do nothin wrong!" He complained, but the clerk had already signeled for hench men ((XD I dont think they even had hench men during the civel war, but ya know....)) The blokes threw him out of the building and wipeing his hands on his pants growled:
"Dont come back" Daniel sighed and remounted his horse.
"C'mon merlin, we'll just go somewhere else." He muttered sleepily.
Danile tried 2 more hotels, and finally after being shut out of another one, decided to try to keep going- he just wouldn't ride Merlin. dazed, he walked on, sore from the ride. He sleepily arrived at a nearby town and announced that he HAD to get a room. he walked up to the hotel closest and hazily walked toward the clerk, expecting nothing more than what the others gave him.
"Hello sir. I'd like a room please." He muttered, looking down at his boots.
"thats a mighty fine accent. You a southerner?"
Daniel gave a wary nod.
"get out." the man hissed turning away.
"Mister, all im asking for is a room. Im not leaving here without it." Suddenlt he was tapped harshly on the shoulder.he turned and saw the biggest dang man hed ecer seen in his life.
"Leave, or we can do this the hard way." The man growled. Daniel craked his knuckles. and turned back to the maneger.
"Oh, so you have to send for big and ugly then, eh?" he snapped inpatiently. a sudden sharp pain greeted the back of his head. Daniel swung around and hit the man back as hard as he could in the gut.
"I just want a room!" he exclaimed dazed by his own stregthe. Then everything went pitch black but only after he saw the big man raise and throw a wooden table at Daniel.
((we should have it so they meet now!!! her dad sees them toss Daniel out and goes to check everything out or somethin'!lol, srry i wrote so much- im really bored and hyper!! XD))

Lissie's father - William - was standing outside of the hotel when Daniel was thrown out. He curiously approached the youth, and knelt down,
"Ho there son, are you alright?"

Daniel blinked and rubbed the back of his head. "Ive been better..." He said, chuckling tiredly. He stood up and brushed himself off, and then held out his hand.
"I'm Daniel Koleman, sir."

((ok so who would you like me to play? Mothger or sister or both???))

"William Smithenson," William replied, shanking the boy's hand, "Did they kick you out because you're a southerner?"

Daniel chuckled agin and streached.
"yes, sir, they did. They aren't the first though. It was nice meeting you Mr. Smithson. Thanks for the help, but my sister need a doctor- i only stopped for my horse." Daniel's stomache growled and he blushed, embarressed to be looked upon like an infirior.

"I'm the mayor here, let's get you back to my house, I'll send the best physcian I can find right away, and we'll get you fed, and you'll stay the night. How does that sound?" William asked.

"Really sir? Thank you so much! I dont mean to intrude Mayor, of course, but my mother would be very greatful..." He answerd eagerly, and then turning a deeper red for blurting out.
"I guess i'll get my horse...?" He muttered, unsure of how the northeners did things.
