1388102 I guess I'll have to show what a celebrity chef groupie I am and admit I really like Bourdain's Les Halles cookbook. In addition to it improving my chops in the kitchen it's very entertaining to read. He doesn't get the respect he deserves as a chef in my opinion.
This past weekend I picked up one of Mario Batalli's books. My next purchase will be the pasta attachment for my mixer. I want to get into more rustic Italian rather than the standard Italian-American.

1883795 What French/Italian books are you using?

I am a chicagoan so I was very pleased with Rick Bayless's win. I have yet to make it over to his new restaurant XOCO. From what I hear from my friends it is fantastic!

1388102 Thanks Amy, I'm segueing from my spring/summer Asian/Latin cooking emphasis to my fall/winter French/italian focus but I'll put your recommendation on my Christmas wish list so I'm ready when spicy season rolls around again.
I was very impressed with Rick's cooking on Top Chef Masters.

1883795 I love Authentic Mexican: Regional Cooking from the Heart of Mexico. It a great introduction to his cookbooks.

1388102 I've been enjoying Rick Bayless's PBS show and was thinking of picking up one of his cookbooks. It looks like he has quite a few and I was wondering if anyone has any experience with any of them.
Thanks
