Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments I have started a list of books that I want to read for 2009, up to about 45 so far. That's without checking my shelves for my "to-reads." (I won't be listing all of the unread books on my shelves, only the ones I realistically expect to get to.) I know I will have a list of 75 without the new books that come out in 2009. I will have my work cut out for me. I've read close to 75 this year so far. I'd like to reach 75 for 2008, too, but December is so crazy busy, it might not be possible. I'm really looking forward to listing my books here and seeing how the list matches up with the "Books To Read In 2009" list I'm compiling now.

Hi, Kathy. I'm glad you've joined us . . . I'm impressed that you've already got a list of 45 you want to read in the new year!

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments Kay, I like your spin on my list of 45 to-reads. What's sad is that they are books I haven't gotten to yet on my shelves, and there are many more. Yikes.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments I'm going to post my 55 books that I've read so far, but I'm not sure I'll get to 75. I probably would have, but I read the Outlander series last spring and am reading the new one now, An Echo in the Bone, by Dianna Gabaldon. They are so long, worth it, but long, that it takes up the time of reading 2 or 3 books sometimes. I have to compile the list from the 50 books group and will return here to post shortly.

Kathy,

You certainly have an interesting reading list for this year. Those larger books do tend to slow us down, but they are often worth it. Isn't it kind of fun to look back and see what you're read this year? Regardless of the number you'll hit in the end!

Thanks, Kay. Those larger books are definitely worth it. I listed the rest of the books I hope to read this year and scheduled them out over the rest of October, November, and December. If I can hold to my schedule (not always easy to do), I'll make 75.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments I'm adding to my original list by editing the post every few books. It looks like I'm not posting much, but I really am. October has been a great reading month with favorites so far being Her Fearful Symmetry, The Day the Falls Stood Still, The Woman in Black A Ghost Story, and Sherlock in Love A Novel.

Kathy, did you like Her Fearful Symmetry? Some of my friends have raved about it!

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments Andrea wrote: "Kathy, did you like Her Fearful Symmetry? Some of my friends have raved about it!"

Andrea, I did enjoy Her Fearful Symmetry. It was a great ghost story, especially good for this time of year. I loved the use of Highgate Cemetery as a setting for so much of the novel. It rather became a character itself.

I'm on the hold list at my library but maybe I will buy it as a treat...lol I'm on a book diet until I read some of what I have here, too bad it is going about as well as my regular diet...lol

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments Well, I have 64 read at the end of October. I am hoping to finish 11 more by the end of the year. I'll just have to see how it goes.

Andrea | 2348 comments Mod
Kathy, you can do that! That is just a little more then a book a week. I have 23 to go and I'm hoping to make it, but I will still be happy that I surpassed the 50 book mark. I got an e-mail from the library Her Fearful Symmetry is available for me in LARGE PRINT...lol I giess I didn't realize I clicked on the large prind edition. I can't wait to read it!

Thanks for the encouragement, Andrea. If all goes as planned on my reading list for November and December, I'll make it, but we all know about the best plans of mice and men. I'll be pulling for you, too. Enjoy Her Fearful Symmetry and let me know how your reading is going.

Thanks Kathy, I think I can, I think I can, I hope I can!...lol I'm trying to boost myself up that I can do this...lol

Hahaha too funny!

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments I just finished a fantastic book, The Owl Killers The Owl Killers by Karen Maitland by Karen Maitland.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments 8 more to go. It should be doable if all goes well.

You'll make it for sure, Kathy!

Thanks for the encouragement, Kay.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments I'm going to try and get in at least a couple books in November, as I'm afraid December is going to be especially busy. Six more to go.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments Surely I can get 5 more in by the end of the year.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments I just added #71 to the running list at the end of my postings, Uglies by Scott Westerfeld. It was a good YA read, 4 stars.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments #72 was easy to knock out today, A Highland Christmas by M.C. Beaton, a Hamish Macbeth mystery. It was only 130 some pages, just a short little Christmas mystery. So, I now go into December with only 3 more to 75. Yipee!

Karol | 1233 comments Mod
Kathy, that book by M.C. Beaton sounds like a nice holiday read! I might have to look for that one.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments Kay wrote: "Kathy, that book by M.C. Beaton sounds like a nice holiday read! I might have to look for that one."

It was, Kay. There is so much going on right now, with the holidays, that I need some books like this one to fit in any reading time.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments After finishing Pretties by Scott Westerfeld, I have only 2 more to go.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments Yay, I reached 75 tonight after finishing Specials by Scott Westerfeld!

Karol | 1233 comments Mod
Congratulations, Kathy!!!

Andrea | 2348 comments Mod
Kathy, you beat me by a mile!! Good for you :)

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments Kay wrote: "Congratulations, Kathy!!!"

Thanks, Kay. I wasn't sure I would make it, but I'm glad I kept at it.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments Andrea wrote: "Kathy, you beat me by a mile!! Good for you :)"

Andrea, I probably just had more free time than you. In one group that I belong to, members are posting that they have read 100 plus. My 75 doesn't look so impressive there. LOL! I guess it's all relative.

Andrea | 2348 comments Mod
I'm okay with my list since I made it over 50! Between school and work I'm impressed I got that many read.

School and work? 50 is very impressive with being that busy.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments I finished #76 tonight, A Redbird Christmas A Novelby Fannie Flagg. It was a great Christmas read!

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments I guess I'll end up getting a couple past 75. I finished #77, Death of a Dustman by M.C. Beaton.

Kathy (readr4ever) | 265 comments Finished out 2009 with #78, Death of a Celebrity by M.C. Beaton.
