The Devil in the White City, by Erik Larson. Not as good as I hoped, but still extremely interesting.
51.

Dark Horse, by Ralph Reed. Pretty darn good, although a tad long and a few loose ends.

Dawn's Light, by Terri Blackstock. I seem to be in the minority as several other "Goodreaders" felt the ending to this series was very satisfying. I personally found it hollow - I was hugely disappointed.
Blackstock is one of those authors whose writings I sometimes love, and sometimes am totally annoyed by. This particular book was an example of the latter.

I've never read anything by her, but I've heard alot about her. What is your favorite series that she has written?
Angie, for mysteries, I like the Newpointe 911 series and the Sun Coast Chronicles series the best. For women's fiction, I very much enjoyed the Times and Seasons series that she co-wrote with Beverly LaHaye.53.

Coraline, by Neil Gaiman. 4/5 stars
54.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. 4.5/5 stars
Oh, my goodness! I can't believe it has been 20 DAYS since I've posted . . . and all I've finished reading are the 2 books below. 58. The Reptile Room (Series of Unfortunate EVents #2) by Lemony Snicket
July really was a slow month for me, but I'm picking up the pace again.59.

I'm debating on counting books on tape that I listen to driving to work. Somehow I feel like I'm cheating though so I can't bring myself to add them!

How are the Pennsylvania Dutch mysteries coming along? I remember reading a few of them, five or seven years ago, but I had no idea there were 17 in the series!

Would you believe I read every single one? And I'm not sure why - there are lots of other books I like better. Throughout the series, I saw a lot of inconsistencies, too, that drove me nuts. But there's something oddly fascinating about Magdalena Yoder and some of the other characters in these books. #18 is due out in February, I think. I'm wondering if the author will be winding up the series with that one - I did see some things in the last few books that were more cohesive, as if the author finally figured out just who the heck Magdalena was!

I know what you mean--As I recall, the PA Dutch mysteries weren't anything special, but they were still entertaining. Also: food porn. Not porn with food, I mean--just lots of food in general.
As for me, I read the entire Virgil Tibbs mystery series this year, after reading "In the Heat of the Night" on a whim last year--and (aside from Tamar Myers, of course) I never read mysteries! Sometimes you just have to go slummin'.

Jacob,
RFLOL on your food porn comment!
