Julie Thomas | 58 comments Hi guys!

Some time ago there was discussion in the Intro thread about the book I was writing, about wine and murder and mayhem in a Waiheke Island vineyard.

Well it is finished and uploaded (as of about two hours ago) and I have had two sales! (Excuse me while I do a little wine dance here)

So, it's called "In Vino Veritas" and it is the first is a trilogy of wine crime novellas (the "Blood and Wine" trilogy. In this book you meet the three central characters and learn about how they got where they are...and there are a few murders along the way (naturally) and hopefully, you're left wanting to know what happens to them next.

Here are links, if you're interested. Firstly it has a Facebook page and there is a short excerpt there:

http://www.facebook.com/pages/In-Vino...

At Amazon US you will find it here:

http://www.amazon.com/Vino-Veritas-Bl...

At Amazon UK you will find it here:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vino-Veritas-...

And at Smashwords you will find it here. It can be downloaded in PDF here:

If you have any questions or comments, don't hesitate to get in touch and thank you so much, Angie, for the platform.

Cheers

Julie

Yay! Can't wait to read it. What wine do you recommend I drink to compliment your book?

Julie Thomas | 58 comments A really good robust red. A Cab Sav or a Merlot. The absolute perfect wine would be a Destiny Bay (Rocky Bay is based on Destiny Bay on Waiheke) Bordeaux Blend.
Enjoy!

Hi Julie. Just out of curiosity, have you temporarily pulled your book? All of the links come up empty. Keep us updated :)

Julie Thomas | 58 comments No, they come up fine for me. Don't understamd that. Which link do you want?

Let me know if these don't work. If you search for Julie Thomas or In Vino Veritas you should find it. It's going well, I'm very pleased. The next one is a real challenge, more chocolate than wine and some unusual ways to die, I promise!!

Cheers
Julie

Thanks. They are working after all, just not from my iPhone, it appears!
You certainly choose great 'characters' for your books. Wine, and now chocolate. Two of my ultimate vices.

Cool idea! Do you have to be a Twitter user?

Julie Thomas | 58 comments It appears so, yes. This is from an article in Sept 2011 and it is up to about 13,000 books now and 3,000 authors. If you don't have a Twitter account they are very easy to get and you can follow and read, rather than tweet. There are some brilliant links to sites to be picked up on Twitter, for both readers and writers, almost every day.

"Created by Evan Jacobs, a former programmer at Amazon, Kindlegraph is designed to facilitate a closer connection between authors and their fans. To personalize their e-book, users log in with their Twitter credentials and select from a list of popular e-books. So far approximately 1,700 authors are involved, with around 7,500 books listed. After selecting an e-book, a request is then sent to the author who, after logging in, will see a list of current requests. There is space to type a personalized message, and clicking “Kindlegraph it” will send the message to Docusign APIs which embed the signed message and sends a PDF back to the reader’s Kindle. Jacobs hopes that authors will use it as a means to build relationships with fans, for example: sending preview chapters or short stories before they are published. A video on the Kindlegraph’s website explains how the platform works in more detail."

Duncan | 5 comments Hi Julie, a very enjoyable book. I read it on Cooper's Beach, with my Kindle and a prescribed glass of local red.

Julie Thomas | 58 comments Hi Duncan
Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it. Working on Book 2 now, there is considerable wine going into a new line of chocolate and the formidable Lane women are about to come seeking revenge!!
Cheers
Julie

Mark (kyb3r) | 8 comments Congrats on making it into the local paper, good to see some recognition for authors! :)

Julie Thomas | 58 comments Thanks very much ;-)

Kathleen Dixon (kiwikathleen) | 491 comments Hi Julie. I couldn't have the book with a glass of wine because I was reading while commuting to work! But loved this book.
I've uploaded my review onto Smashwords.

Julie Thomas | 58 comments Kathleen
Very glad you enjoyed it. Thanks so much for the charming review, as you know, these things are like gold dust for authors. The second in the series is pottering along, life has been a bit distracting lately, but should be back into it this week. It's from Anna's viewpoint and features two strong female antagonists in Marcus's wife and Norman's widow. Anna has her work cut out!
Cheers
Julie

Make sure you let us all know once it's published!

Julie Thomas | 58 comments Hi guys

Just thought I'd let you know that I was interviewed by Kitty Bullard on the Great Minds Think ALoud site. She put it on many sites and the easiest one is probably Facebook

This is the website

Apart from thinking that Cambridge was the one in England, she did very well!!
