Jason Bergman (loonyboi) | 166 comments So I mentioned in the return of Chung-Kuo thread that book 1 (Son Of Heaven)is out, and book 2 (Daylight on Iron Mountain) is currently available in the UK.

I read the first book and want to keep going, but there's no US publisher for the series, and no ETA on a digital release.

Fortunately the Chung Kuo fan site has directions for how to purchase the book here in the US:

I tried it, and it seems to have worked. I bought the book and downloaded it and can currently read it in the cloud reader. I'll check when I get home tonight if it works on my actual Kindle device, but it looks like it works!

The important thing, is that after transferring my account back to the US, the book remained in my library! So I think once a book is in your account, it's in your account, regardless of what country it's registered in.

(This would seem to jibe with my past experience, as I book I bought a while ago went out of print...you can't buy it anymore, but I can still redownload it indefinitely).

Anyway, this seems like a handy set of instructions, as there are lots of books (particularly sci-fi/fantasy ones) that are available only in one country, but not another. I happened to notice that the Majipoor Chronicles, which are long out of print here in the states, are available for Kindle in the UK, so I might have to try this again.

Joseph | 1410 comments Oooh! I've been looking for a way to get other Amazon UK ebooks (The Gormenghast Trilogy primarily, but also some others) onto my US Kindle, and if this works I'll be very, very happy.

Been | 125 comments I'm in the UK and there's loads of books in the US kindle store that aren't available here yet. ("Bitter Seeds" and the "His Dark Materials" trilogy for starters. Assuming this works the other way around I can probably stop reading physical books altogether.

Thanks Jason. Do you think it work the other way round? Can anyone in the U.S provide a similar post code for Englanders to use please?

Whenever I need to fake that I have a US zipcode. (Some sites insist on a zip code that is US only) I go for the one that got stuck in my head in the 90's

Beverly Hills, 90210

Crap show, easy to remember though.

Jason Bergman (loonyboi) | 166 comments There's no reason it shouldn't work the other way...just use 90210 as a zip code and let us know!

Vladimir | 33 comments If they actually validate the address, you can pretend to be Obama and use:
1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW
Washington, DC 20500

If Amazon will actually require a US credit card, then you're out of luck.

If someone tries this, please let us know either way.
