45128 Ace, you had the same problem I did, finishing them by the deadline but not posting them in time.

I pulled a couple books out now for the spring challenge to start this week.

message 2173: by Andrew (Ace) (new)

1517100 Thanks for the certificate.

I have been away from home for a few days, without internet access, but I completed these by the deadline:

5. Read A Book Where One Of The Main Characters Has The Same Profession As You.
The Camel Bookmobile (loved it!)
15 points

2. Ann From S.C.'s Task - Read a book that you have started but never finished.
Person-Centred Counselling in a Nutshell (Hated it !)
25 points please

I make that 200 points, which is more than I ever hoped for !

As I said, I'm taking the next 3 months off to read the books I've been saving up because they didn't fit the challenge. However, having seen how much it's got me into my reading, my best friend (not a GR member) is using a printout of the spring challenge to get herself reading more too !
Thanks from us both :-)

message 2172: by Melody (new)

1559001 Thanks Cynthia. I just got my certificate. It is lovely and you do such a great job. I look forward to participating in many more challenges.

message 2171: by Becky (new)

1376766 Yeah, I can understand that. I normally go for like weekend trips... Get a hotel for one night, wander around the city, take in a show or something, go to museums or the zoo, and then leave.

That's the way to do it. You get to experience it, and your hubby doesn't have to suffer too long if he hates it! ;)

message 2170: by Sara ♥ (new)

155288 That sounds lovely. My sister went to NYC on a band trip (!!), AND my entire family (minus me) had a day layover there and got to check out the city for a little bit... Sometimes it sucks being the oldest--I all grown up and married and I don't get to go on family trips anymore, because I can't get off work! :( My hubby and I will get out there someday, although I don't think he'd be a big fan of NYC. He's not really a city guy...

message 2169: by Becky (new)

1376766 I've lived on the East Coast just about all my life... You should definitely make it a point to visit the east coast one day Sara. NYC is amazing... I'm thinking of going out there this summer for a while- but its only 2 hours away for me!

message 2168: by Sara ♥ (new)

155288 I've never even been to the east coast. I'd love to go and visit, at least! I've actually never been anywhere east of Arkansas! So sad...

I love Texas though, so I'll deal with having 1 less hour to read. Serves me right for procrastinating so much anyway... ;)

message 2167: by Becky (new)

1376766 Well, what better reason to move to the East Coast Sara! ;)

message 2166: by Sara ♥ (new)

155288 Well, don't get me started on how people in the east (England to Australia) have extra time... They can start at 12 am on the start date, but get until 12 Eastern? And I only got until 11 pm, since I'm in Central time zone... *shrugs* I BARELY made it, too. That extra hour would have been lovely!

message 2165: by Terri (new)

45128 I dont remember seeing that in the rules. Maybe it needs to be added since this was my first challenge and I was only goign by what was in the official challenge rules

1058995 Sorry points had to be posted before the 12 midnight deadline.

message 2158: by Terri (new)

45128 One thing about coming in the challenge late is I ran out of time, had two other books I wanted to read for the challenge - What Do you say to a Naked Elf? And Santa Baby. Ah well....

265874 I have a feeling that it is going to be much more challenging to finish the spring challenge because there are 41 books so far and that is not including Darla's and Cassie's 25 point task and the 50 point task that will be announced mid-challenge!

message 2141: by Angie (new)

648648 It's 8:41 p.m. and I'm officially ending my quest to finish the Winter Challenge. 255 points isn't too bad for my first attempt. I'll try to beat that in the Spring Challenge.

This was fun...and a bit draining at times, but quite worth it.

See you all on the Spring Challenge forum.

message 2140: by Jamie (last edited Feb 28, 2009 06:29PM) (new)

898662 Congratulations to everyone who reached their goals for the Winter Challenge! I definitely didn't do well this time (I only reached 85 points), but I've got a great list for Spring and I'm feeling motivated! I'm going to get started on the new challenge tonight.
