In “The Awakening,” by Kelley Armstrong, the entire story is full of suspense. Throughout the plot, I was always wondering what was around the next corner. Whether it was which character was hiding behind the door or who knocked who unconscious, I was always looking forward to see what was going to happen next. Armstrong used a lot of mysterious and intense words to describe the suspenseful scene. There were multiple times during the course of the story when I was very surprised and the suspenseful scene caught me off guard. In the beginning of the story, the main character Chloe, tries to snoop around in the office of Dr. Davidoff, but she is almost caught. Yet with the help of her gift as a necromancer and her friend Liz, who is a ghost, she was able to distract the doctor and escape without being seen. During this scene, it was very suspenseful because you wanted to know if Chloe was going to get caught.
