Are there any non-fiction books on the amazing lives of French figures pre-1970? I'm not looking for very mainstream names such as Napoleon, but someone more out of the way yet fascinating, so I can expand my knowledge of French culture.
Merci!
Jean Jacques Rousseau is interesting. You can also learn a lot about him, fictionally, by reading Alexandre Dumas. Dumas is fascinating too, of course.
