I heartily agree! I read this at the end of last year and was sadly disappointed. I like JA sequels and I like P.D. James' mysteries, but this one failed on both levels.

Thanks, I've been on the fence about this book and so far I haven't heard anything good. Plus I think for kindle her book is a little expensive.

Meredith (Austenesque Reviews) (merry816) This book technically doesn't fall under any of the categories since it is a retelling of Emma from Mr. Knightley's point of view, but I just wanted to put my recommendation up because it is an extremely well-written series!

http://janeaustenreviews.blogspot.com...

message 36: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 7 comments I just read both volumes of George Knightly Esquire "book" Charity Envieth Not (George Knightley, Esquire; #1) by Barbara Cornthwaite a retelling of Emma from Mr. Knightley's perspective.

Here is my review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

The story was good. Watch out if you think you need to just buy this one, though, because the story stops halfway through and you "need" to buy the other volume to finish the story.

The author added interesting detail about what Mr. Knightley did when Emma wasn't around. Emma isn't my favorite Jane Austen novel, but I enjoyed this book. I might have enjoyed this story more than the original (strike me down!)
