i just finished Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close which was AMAZING..and I'm now starting on Hard Times by Charles Dickens..mostly for school but I should probably read Dickens eventually.
Ah, jeez, Jane Eyre. I read it in 11th grade and hated every minute of it. I never hear bad things so I'm thinking I should give it another goI just read John Updike's "Rabbit, Run" which is easily one of my favorites. It helped that he set his story in Reading, PA, making it all the more lovable to me.
Hmm I'll have to pick that one up.I think its funny how certain books that I read (and hated) in high school..i have a fear of reading again..but most of them I ended up liking now a few years down the road.
I'm currently on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I'm not a big mystery guy, and this is fairly slow going so far. In fact, the only character I'm really interested in is the title character, who so far has a pretty minor role.I expect it will all start to move faster now that I'm halfway through.
I realized from being on GR all the time....that I never really read any classics. When I listened to The Thirteenth Tale, there were alot of references to Jane Eyre so here I am reading it!
I'm currently reading the first book in the Uglies series..i don't think i really like it too much. it's for a book group..before that i just finished The Book Thief..which was AMAZING!
Just finished The Zookeeper's Wife. Loved it. True story about really interesting people trying to survive WWII Poland and includes a lot of historical information. Diane Ackerman is a great storyteller.
I too thought The Book Thief was amazing! I listened to the audio cd version recently which I enjoyed.
Still reading Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia, considering continuing reading Confessions of an Eco-Sinner: Tracking Down the Sources of My Stuff, and trying to pick from a few fictions to see which to continue with (I read a bit of each): Heart Of Stone

i'm actually expanding my knowledge of super hero graphic novels and reading "watchmen" at the moment...it's really dense in a good way. so many submininal images throughout, it's kind of like the "hidden pictures" at the end of a highlights magazine, but for adults. really enjoying it!
just finished The Thirteenth Tale A Novel and now going to re-read Franny and Zooey..because it's one of my favorites and i'm really in the mood to read it.
I'm working on The Audacity of Hope Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream...I figure as a supporter of the president it might be good to read his philosophies from his own mouth (or pen, i guess...)
I just finished Water for Elephants recently and am now reading The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver
Current Read: Kafka on the ShoreNext on the Docket: either "The Invention of Everything Else" or "How We Are Hungry"
I'll have off from work for the next two weeks and am hoping to devour some books this summer!
I've been wanting to read Kafka on the Shore! I'm currently reading Choke and I just finished The Virgin Suicides.

I just currently ran out of things to read, so I am going to go raid the used bookstore warehouse in fishtown tomorrow. See what I come up with. Is anyone here interested in doing a monthly book group meeting? I've joined two in the past year but the meetings never materialized.

The Sari Shop Widow - Shobhan BantwalWouldn't have read it without the enticement of a free Kindle download, but it was very interesting. I'd like to hear the opinion of an Indian reader, however, since the book is very much tied to that culture.
