Ginney Etherton | 6 comments I think it's Bill something, he moves around a lot and writes non-travelog type books, very funny. The most recent one is about living in the Midwest USA, I think.

LauraW (LauraLynnWalsh) | 215 comments Bill Bryson. He wrote In a Sunburned Land - about Australia, which is hilarious. He grew up in my hometown and went to my high school. His book The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid was about growing up during that time.

Ginney Etherton | 6 comments That's the guy! Thanks, Laura. I think the one I read, years ago, was about Great Britain. I'll find others and read more!
There's a writer who went to Figi with his family, and to China without, J. Maarten Troost. I like him, too, and mixed up the names.
I'm going to post these on my "read" list so I can find them later when I forget, again.

Congrats on the quick finding Ginney. You need to move this down to "Solved" now please.

BTW--I'm totally jealous--I've never had a book identified for ME this fast.
