Confused & intimidated on how to Combine Titles

I see that there are at least 13 book entires for The Hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy in the GR database. See http://www.goodreads.com/book/editions/4...I wanted to combine all of the english language, print, versions of this book - but see that other librarians have seperated these same editions. This seems wasteful and erroneous to me. All of them are the same book, all are in the same language, all are print versions. Should they not all be in one entry (with the various ISBN's noted perhaps.)
There are many many books like this. What do we do about something like this?
Thanks- George
It looks like all the editions of "The Hunt for Red October" are currently combined. Clancy has a couple of other books that aren't fully combined. I'll fix those after I post this.It sounds like you're mis-interpreting what "combine titles" means. Combining editions of books does not eliminate editions, it just ties them together. That way if you read one edition and I read a completely different edition, the compare books feature will still see we read the same book.
Basically, every separate edition with a valid ISBN is considered a valid book.
