I reside in Atlanta with my husband of ten years and our spoiled but playful dog whom I like to at times refer to as "big-boned". He turns his nose up at anything that has "senior" or "Weight-Control" on the bag.
I enjoy reading books like "Drowning Ruth", writing and blogging and one day getting back into the art of drawing.

Hehe, thanks!! :)
hello everyone my name is katie and am 24 and i live in england which means i sometimes have to wait longer to get a book that i want which rreally gets on my nerves.
i love to read and actually only started obsessing over buying books ast year and thanks to this site my collection has shot up with all the great recommends.
my favourite genre is fantasy whether it being YA or adult.
my all time favourite series is actually a new one which is the black dagger brotherhood series. closely followed by the mortal instruments, the hunger games, shiver and the immortal series.
Hi everyone!
I am Kat and live in Alabama. I have two boys (20 and 18). I have loved to read since I was little, read everything that I could get my hands on. My favorite book is still "To Kill a Mockingbird" after reading it in middle school.
I read just about all genres, even thought Im not a fan of chick-lit or romance. I am in grad school right now working on my doctorate, so my "fun" reading has declined over the last 4 months, but I have a month off so I plan on catching up!!
Hi everyone. My name is Ankita and I'm in love with books. (I'm new to the site though) My favorite genre is fantasy. I'm currently reading The Golem's Eye by Jonathan Stroud.Looking forward to discussing great books.:D
Hi My name is Chris and I just joined this group. I'm new to good reads and have wasted so much time on this website, I feel a little guilty!!! Not enough to log off though!
My name is Len Goodman. I am an author and retired analyst. I am a freelance writer and specialize in financial investments and have a particular interest in current crazy financial events (that's why I wrote my book but this is not the time to do any promotion.) I know many people out there are confused by the smoke and spin and hope to engage in some conversations about these interesting and confusing times. So,if you have any questions and want some interesting answers that you wont hear from the main stream media, let me know.
my favorite authors are:John le Carre Michael Connolly, Ben Bova, Stephen Frey, J. Michner,Leon Uris, and about a thousand others who have made my life so rich.

I'm Galya from New York. :)
Welcome, welcome, welcome!!
Hi, I'm new to the group so thought I'd say hi! I live in York in the UK and I love to read!
I've just started a PhD and books are a welcome relief from the masses of academic reading I do on a daily basis!
I like to read all sorts really...although Jane Austen is definately a favourite of mine - I'm loving the Austen Autumn you are doing at the moment and have just dug out my copy of Emma to read this month!
xx

Where in KS are you located? Igrew up in Fredonia, married in Wichita, Divorced in Marion, Graduated from Emporia State University in 1980. Are you near any of these. Have relatives all over the western half of the state. What would be a good read for my 3rd grade granddaughter? Most everyone here reads about the same type adult fiction/non-fiction that I do. That's why I like it. Stop by anytime.

Hi Judy. Actually, the last post was 2 days ago - mine! We read a range of stuff, but I generally just join in if it's something I want to read. Anyway, welcome.
I see the last post was 10 months ago. Is this group still going? I am 54, live in Kansas, and am a school librarian. I read LOTS of children's books, YA, and a little adult fiction and nonfiction. I am hoping to find titles for my adult book group that are fun, relatively fast reads, and make for great discussions. My group meets once a month. Trying to get my reading group interested in goodreads but they are not that into social networking yet. Will read some of the other posts to see what you read. I saw that you have a book a month which is about what I read in adult fiction, a book a month. For children's literature I read about a book a week, obviously more if it is for children under 4th grade.

This is a sneaky thing to write on this group's own page, but if you love classics, join the Victorians! group as well. If you haven't already. :)
This is the greatest group on goodreads, classics are my favorite and my goal is to have read all of them before I die! I don't have a lot of money so I buy ebooks from booksonboard.com because their prices are much better than the bookstores in case anyone was looking for better prices.
Anita wrote: "Hello
I am Anita I have been apart of the Goodreads site for awhile. I love to read ! "
I agree Anita. There is something so irresistable about shelves of books. It is magnetic the way it pulls you to them!
Hi! Thank you for the open welcome to join your group. I am Nancy from Western South Dakota. I love the four seasons, esp Fall and a great snowfall. I love anything with nature! I love the sun,the lake and the beach. walks in the woods. being out in the crispness of Fall, or a soft snowfall. the beauty of a sunset. I like to grow flowers, camp, to sit by a good fire, and I especially like to read. I belong to a monthly book club which i enjoy very much. And I follow the selections of other book clubs or discussion groups. I'm always looking for a great enthusiastic recommendation for a book. And love to ask people, 'what the best last book you've read?" or "What's one of your all time favorites?" A friend in my book club turned me on to Good Reads in March and I've enjoyed it so much. And what a gift to introduce other friends. My Friends. Friends of Friends. and the vast network of 'friends' out there! Its like a great 'coffee break' to sit down and see what others are reading and saying. I've been keeping my eye open for a discussion group here, and last night when I read about your group, I jumped at the chance. I read a wide variety of genres, and especially enjoy the joy of shared reading and lively discussions with friends. Last but certainly not least, I like sports, almost any kind, especially soccer and most especially football. I am passionate about NFL football, my all-time favorite player, and the Vikings! Yea Farve! Go Vikings!

Hello!

Hi, Windfall, and welcome. Yeah, the two don't go so well together in theory... Anyway, I'm sure you'll find it worryingly addictive in no time. :)
I was pointed toward this group on the group page, I thought it looked interesting and decided to hop on in. I have been participating in a couple special interest groups and one general interest one, Book Haven, already. They're nice people over there, but more into recent vampire novels than I! I read voraciously, and while my favorite genres are mystery and science fiction, I don't limit myself to those. The only books I don't really get along well with are romance novels. I've tried, and I just can't do it.
Just joined as I ran across this group and would love to read some Austen this fall. It has been years and years so they will all be fresh and new for me.
Name is Sharon, 53, Texas.
Hello everyone !! :D I have just joined this great group :) I don't know what to right about myself except from some ordinary things.... I like reading, writing, I like singing but I don't have too many fans, I like my hamster, although he don't enjoy my company, I like green tea, coffee with milk, talking with my friends, build castles on sand, taking weird photos, pizza with olives, pierogi with cheese, packing my backpag before a journey, traveling, sending postcards, returns, sunrises and sunsets, frogs, cats, dogs, collecting earings...
My name is Danusia and I am 23 years old (if my birth certificate is telling the true)
It's great to meet you all :D
Hi Vicki :) I'd love to be an English teacher- I'm sure you have oodles of books to recommend.
Anita, hi! Welcome to the group.
Hi Heather :) If you love books, you'll fit in perfectly here. I hope you have lots to recommend.
Hello all! I'm Heather. I joined goodreads a long while ago, I am just now getting into it. I try to read as much as I can and I love adding books to my library. I love the way they look, the way they smell, the way they fill up space...of course I also love reading them, but that should go without saying.
A big hello and Welcome to our group: Michael, Andrea, Mounica, Vicki, Amy, Maria, Mike, Marsha, De, Jennifer, Doris, svetlana, Kuutar, Troy, Stephanie, Sarah, Stephanie, Amii, Tristen, Nadia, Georgia, Tennessee, George, Shweta, Hessam, PJreads, Lynette, Attolia, Rochelle, Rita, Noemi, Lindsay, Becky, & Nadia! :)
Hope you like it here!!!!
Hi all, I have been on Good Reads for awhile, but have been lurking on this site for a few days. I love the idea of the Austin Autumn as it will give me a chance to read some books by her that I haven't read yet.
Anyway, I obviously loved to read and discuss books. I am 28 and I work as an English teacher. I am teaching American Lit this year, which I am quite excited about.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you!
Kuutar wrote: "Hi Lauren! Actually English is foreign language for me. I've learned it in school. They start to teach English here on third grade of elementary school. "
The Finnish education is clearly superior to the British one. We only start learning another language at eleven, which is definitely too young. Anyway, welcome to the group, I forgot to say :D
Hi Lauren! Actually English is foreign language for me. I've learned it in school. They start to teach English here on third grade of elementary school.
Hi Stephanie! Book addictions are the only healthy type. I'm looking forward to recommendations!
Hi Kuutar! Wow, I'd love to visit Finland one day. Is English your second language?
Last but not least, hi Jennifer! If you like the Tudors, there's actually a group on that, if you didn't know already. I look forward to possible recommendations :)
Hi everyone! My name is Jennifer and I live in Nova Scotia, Canada. I love reading and always have. I read all different genres but my favorites are historical fiction and non-fiction about different European monarchies, especially the Tudors.
Other favorites include The Mists of Avalon, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Gone With The Wind and Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, to name a few.
Looking foward to this group. I've been wanting to read Interview with a Vampire and now I see it's a group read here so that's a good sign :)
Hi, I'm Kuutar from Finland and reading is my passion (well one of them). I don't really have genre limitations, I read almost everything that I find interesting. I'm constantly looking for new interesting books and I am sure to find great recommendations from here. :)
Hi all, I'm Peggy from Mesa AZ and I love to read. I just found Goodreads a couple of days ago and am having a wonderful time finding enticing suggestions and enjoying wonderful memories. I'm looking forward to reading the monthly books chosen by this group.
