Brett, At the Mountains of Madness is mesmerizing. Lovecraft totally transported me into his story. I would highly recommend it.
Hi-
I'm new too.
House Mother Normal – B.S. Johnson
At the Mountains of Madness - HP Lovecraft
Middlesex - Eugenides
Hi,
I am new here, but if I can still throw in a vote:
January: At the Mountains of Madness by H. P. Lovecraft.
THe winners are
If Not Now, When?
At the Mountains of Madness: The Definitive Edition
Middlesex
Alright then. Thanks everyone
I hope I'm not too late to get my vote in.
December - If not now, when
January - Look Homeward Angel
February - Middlesex
Definitely, great suggestions. Thanks for the pictures. That is much nicer. How come no one's talking about Clockwork Orange anymore? We still have until November 15th on that one!! Someone get over there and say something or post a question or quote or something.
I vote on using the polls as well. If we don't end up using them, could you by chance use the hyperlink codes to post the titles? It makes comparing the book choices a whole lot easier! Something to this effect maybe: (and here are my votes, btw)
December 15th – January 15th

Morvern Callar by Allan Warner
January 15th – February 15th

At the Mountains of Madness by H.P. Lovecraft
February 15th – March 15th

Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
Thanks, Terrea
Okay so by the time these books come around I should be able to start being involved again! Okay so here are my votes.
Dec - Jan
I won't be back in time to hop in on these so I'll have to sit those out.
Jan - Feb
At the Mountains of Madness
Feb - Mar
Middlesex
Just scrolling through the posts. Why aren't we using the polls feature? Well, one, because I didn't know it existed. And...yup, that's about it. Let's do it for next time. Thanks, everyone! I don't know how it woks but I'll figure it out :-)
I'll post Saturday or Sunday after tallying (I've read Middlesex. It is fantastic for discussion. And I am voting for the Lovecraft but we'll see what happens. I can't wait; I love the voting stage, the excitement!)

'middlesex' is, like next month's 'satanic verses', one of those books i somehow never did get around to reading, so putting it on the schedule is super!
btw, whether or not we choose to read lovecraft in january, the wikipedia has the entire text online for free:

(The Ogre & Middlesex were cut for the 2008 version, for those of you only reading from the 2008 list)
I was wondering about the polls too...it's much easier to count that way. Anyway, here's my pics:December 15th – January 15th

February: On the Black Hill OR The Ogre
Although Middlesex will probably win for February, I'd like to make a plug for the two other choices! Look either up on Amazon for some good reviews and descriptions. I've already read Middlesex, as I'm guessing many others have, and I'd rather use this book group as an impetus to dig into some of the more obscure titles on the list.
You should try putting the new book pics up on polls for voting. I don't now how it works since I'm not an administer for a site but it seems like it would be a fun way to do it.
