Lu (Sugar & Snark) | 7792 comments The word is CHINA. Lets get started!

You use the first letter of a book you have read in October (A, an, the.. you can leave out). Or you can use the first letter of the Authors name or Surname.

Good luck everyone!

Lu (Sugar & Snark) | 7792 comments I can't remember what was decided in a case like this:
Mette Ivie Harrison

Can the Ivie count as an I?

Lauren Smith | 5197 comments I don't see why not.

Although in that case all initials would count. eg. D.H. Lawrence could be used for D, H or L.

Lu (Sugar & Snark) | 7792 comments Its hard enough anyway :)

Well if anyone has a objection, please say so before October starts.

Barbara | 3677 comments It is not a name I would use but then I don't think the I is a tough letter to find an author or title. Maybe that's just me but I can understand why you want to and so I have no objections.
I don't think I will be joining the october word challenge, because I have ordered some books to help me finish my a-z challenges which I then of course have to read and I don't believe I can use them in this challenge. Maybe next month.

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1536 comments I really enjoy finishing the Word of The Month challenges. I've been neglecting the A-Z challenges because of it - the books I got for them are staring at me accusingly from their place on my night stand.

Barbara | 3677 comments Maybe it's just because for the book A-Z I just have one book to go and got that one yesterday and for the author A-Z I just have three to go. One of them I got today together with another book that according to bookdepo was by an author named Young but is by an author named Reynolds. So I am a bit unhappy. Can I sue them for puting the wrong name on their site? It's not that I don't want to read this book but I can't use it in any challenge that I can think of.
Anyway It means I only have to read 4 more books to finish these challenges and that takes precedence for me. It isn't that I don't like the word of the month challenge because I do and everytime we vote I really try to pick a word that matches what I have lined up but then something comes up and another challenge takes precedence. I did complete a couple in the beginning of the year, maybe because then everything will fir in the A-Z challenges I don't know.
By the way I bought X-Isle on your recommendation. I will probably start it this weekend.

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1536 comments I bought that one too. We can read it together. :P

Barbara | 3677 comments When do you want to start? I thought about this weekend but if you want to start later let me know?

Claudia (claudiavstoomanybooks) | 1536 comments This weekend sounds good.

Barbara | 3677 comments Ok, let's do it.

OMG I almost sound like a Nike commercial :/
