Tammy and Auntee,
It`s been a long time since I read Envy ,but I think he was a writer and his friend ran him over with a boat and the propeller cut him all up.Would you please post your thoughts on it after you read it,I`d like to refresh my memory without having to read it again.I really like Sandra but it isn`t one of my favorites either
Tammy, I read it a while ago, so of course can't remember the details. I do remember it was a good story, especially if you like romantic suspense. I remember there was something physically wrong with the hero though--I think he had trouble walking or something? This was hundreds of books ago, so the memory is a little blurry!:)
Tammy, I read Envy when it first came out, so I've forgotten most of the details. I know it wasn't one of my favorites by Sandra Brown, but I liked it okay. I hesitate to say much about the parts I do remember, because I don't want to ruin the story for you.
Has anyone read Sandra Brown's Envy yet? Christa? My neighbor has been pushing it on me, but I've been hemming and hawing. The book is so looooooonngg ...
Pamela, I enjoyed it alot. It nicely wrapped up the entire series and has a great HEA (unlike the first 2 books). It leaves you with a nice happy feeling :)
One of my anxiously-impatiently-waiting-for-it-to-be-released books (Bad Penny (Cat Dupree trilogy #3) by Sharon Sala) snuck out early at the K-mart near me. I nearly did a happy dance in the middle of the aisle ;)
...and then I read the whole thing in near record time and loved it!
Elaine, Smoke Screen does have an HEA for the hero and heroine. Since I don't enjoy Sandra Brown's books as consistently as I used to, I didn't want to buy the hard cover either. I ended up checking it out from the library.
SB's Smoke Screen:Thanks, Christa. I will get it but will wait for the mass paperback. Is there a HEA for the H&H or is it open-ended, hinting at a relationship as in Play Dirty?
LOL East! Did you read the others in the series? I'm trying to be good here--I'm not going to pop over to B&N online and see if it's available early. Last I looked, it was supposed to be available in early November, so I'm making myself wait.;)
Auntee I was thinking of getting THE SEDUCTION OF SEAMUS O'ROURKE but I can't remember why now 8) I'll wait for your review :D
Elaine, the romance is definitely secondary to the suspense, but the hero and heroine spend most of the book in one another's company so their is plenty of interaction and tension between them.
Christa, is there any romance in SB's smokescreen? If there is, is it still pretty much in the background? I enjoyed Play Dirty but don't consider it a romantic suspense, if that's a gauge. Thanks.
I read Sandra Brown's Smoke Screen and I thought it was the best one she's written in several years. I would definitely recommend it.
I'm waiting for Nora Roberts' Pagan Stone, too. And I just picked up Lisa Gardner's latest. Has anybody read Sandra Brown's Smoke Screen? Do you recommend it?
I'm waiting for A Virgin River Christmas by Robyn Carr, and The Seduction of Shamus O'Rourke by N.J. Walters, both out sometime in November.
Another one I'm waiting for: Dying For You by Beverly Barton. It's the last book in her long Protectors series. After finishing A Time To Die recently (Protectors #29), it made me really want this one to come out NOW, lol :)
"Veil of Midnight" by Lara Adrian. Supposed to be out in December 2008. I'm waiting on that one, too. ;-)
I'm waiting for Nora Roberts Pagan Stone, and for Lara Adrian's latest vampire book. The name escapes me at the moment!
No luck today finding "Too Far Gone", so I caved and ordered it from B&N online. If it gets here by the end of the week, I'll be a happy camper!:)
I'm waiting for "Too Far Gone" also. It wasn't out in the bookstores I was in today (Barnes and Noble and Hastings). Darn it. Barnes and Noble didn't have ANY of Marliss Melton's books! Ugh!
KarLynP, have you read any of Cindy Gerard's Bodyguard books? I recommend them. The whole series is wonderful. Be sure to read them in order. She has a new series (Black Ops) that just came out this month, but it spins off her Bodyguard series and you need to have read most of the Bodyguard to fully understand and enjoy the Black Ops.
Whew! Say that fast three times and watch your tongue get tied...
;-)
That sounds like a good idea Auntee. I just finished the one before this one a couple of weeks ago, and I am anxious to read Ellie and Sean's story. I hope it is as good as the others.
Auntee, I am really looking forward to that one also. I'm tempted to go ahead and order it from B&N.
I can't wait for "Too Far Gone" by Marliss Melton, which comes out October 28--although I noticed it is available at B&N online now.:)
