Two great reviews, Shanaz and Shoeb. Both great books for supporting the curriculum too: Each Peach... in EYFS if you've been reading lots of traditional tales and nursery rhymes (great for early phonic work too) and Dogger for a topic on toys.

It's a brilliant series; Artemis' character and his relationship with Holly changes. I'd recommend The Dreamwalker's Child and Mark Walden's HIVE series if you liked Artemis.

Here is a review of Gregory Cool by Caroline Binch:

Alison (fantasticreads) | 1070 comments Mod
Great reviews, Helen and Eloise. This Is The Bear would be a good book to remember if you're teaching the topic Toys in KS1. Helen, I love Gregory Cool. Caroline Binch is a fantastic illustrator; she illustrated Amazing Grace. I had her picture books in my KS2 classes, due to her beautiful depiction of black families, which are still under-represented in books.

Great reviews!Interesting that Helen has reviewed The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark and Shoeb Owl Babies, both of which could be used in Science to look at Light and Dark or classifying nocturnal animals. Megan, which age ranges would you recommend The Minpins for? I love the words he uses!

Megan Chard | 14 comments Hi, here is my edited review of The Minpins by Roald Dahl with age recommendation..... http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Miayruffah | 15 comments The Very Hungry Caterpillar:
This is one of the memorable books from my childhood. I think it’s a very attractive, vibrant picture book full of colour and fun. The flaps in the book allow all confident and shy learners to join in and poke fun. It conveys the growth of a caterpillar into a butterfly. One of the ways in which Eric Carle stimulates children is by including numbers, days, colours, fruits and animals. Carle brings humour to the caterpillar’s development which grabs the children’s attention. I consider this simple book appropriate for EYFS and key stage one as it uses one or two syllable words. It teaches children what kind of diet is acceptable. It also makes children question why does the caterpillar eat so much? But then it does show when you do eat too much there is consequences! Overall, it is an eye catching and amazing read.
Eric Carle

Hi Miyaruffah
You need to save your review on the book's page: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/49..., otherwise you won't be able t find it at the end of the programme. Come and see me in ED204 tomorrow at 2:15pm if you're not sure how to do this.

Shoeb Narot | 13 comments Hi there,

This is my review for 'Not Now, Bernard' By, David McKee
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Alison (fantasticreads) | 1070 comments Mod
Great reviews, everyone. Thanks. Helen, Noughts & Crosses is an outstanding book, which forces the reader to consider the issues you state; it's also a great Romeo and Juliet-style love story. The sequels are equally great.

Jon Saunders | 15 comments Shoeb wrote: "Hi there,

I LOVE this book!

u1124876 UEL | 27 comments Hi Alison, I literally just bought Knife Edge and I did not know that there were sequels so thank you for telling me. I totally agree with you that this is a modern day Romeo and Juliet and I look forward to reading the sequels.

Another very funny book about a child being ignored by the adults around him is The Shrinking of Treehorn, which I read with a middle ability Y4 reading group. Higher ability Y2s could read it, but would probably need some of the jokes explained.

u1124876 UEL | 27 comments Hello, please read my controversial review on the Kate Greenaway Medal winning Wolves by Emily Gravett:
http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

Alison (fantasticreads) | 1070 comments Mod
Here is the direct link to your review, Shanaz: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... You're right, there The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a great book to use across the curriculum. Some interesting points, Helen; Emily Gravett's illustrations aren't to everyone's taste, and that is fine; this task is about exploring the breadth and range of children's literature, which you're doing with great enthusiasm!
