185835 Unfortunately, I won't be able to help as I'm forcefully incapable of reading The Gathering (after trying it when it first got the Booker), but I do hope you're okay, Ruth, or will feel better soon. Your message worries me.

899665 I attempted to read The Gathering but had to stop and walk away from it. I will decide in the next couple of days if I will continue the attempt or not.

336792 I finished it, so I can start it. I am not sure if I liked it or not. It is difficult to like.

632452 My goodness! This is the least auspicious set of initial comments concerning a selection since those relating to the one I nominated.

message 7: by Sherry, Doyenne (new)

193297 I like it so far. But then I like just about everything I read. Maybe there's still time for me to dislike it.

632452 No, Sherry, you'll end up liking it. You're such a pushover.

message 9: by Marian (new)

943983 I liked it. But will save comments for discussion.

message 10: by Dottie (new)

336421 I liked it though some might say that I'm a bit like Sherry in that I like most anything.

message 11: by Barbara (new)

340071 I loved it!

message 12: by Wilhelmina (new)

1010541 Yikes! I just started reading it and now I'm terrified! Guess I'll have to wait for the discussion to find out what people disliked so much.

message 13: by Ruth (new)

335159 i loved it, 2

message 14: by Philip (new)

555726 What a great book, thanks to whoever nominated it!

Nophoto-f-25x33 I must admit I first read this book last January and hated it; well, that might be a little strong, but really did not enjoy it. I decided I'd give it another go before the discussion here, though, so I could be better prepared and this time I loved it. I haven't a clue why the difference, but I'm looking forward to the discussion, as always.

1432413 I got this book from the library last week and have been having trouble getting through it. Not because I dislike it, but I am really not in a dark humor mood right now. I was just starting to wonder why I was so bent on finishing the thing when I remembered what today was and to check what book was this month's pick for CR. Hello! LOL So that's why I'm reading this book...I got more than I bargained for when I started using GR. ^^; I'll try to finish it tonight.

Abigail, that's a perfect description of how many of us felt shortly after encountering Constant Reader all those years ago -- and it became exponentially more so when Constant Reader settled into our new digs on Goodreads over a year ago -- so we know exactly what you mean! The discussion will be here waiting so read fast but don't stay up all night;)!

748860 I am still reading it. I have not read any of the discussion to avoid spoilers, but I am just worried that I will arrive too late at the party. I will try to finish it in the next day or two...

message 19: by Sherry, Doyenne (new)

193297 The notes will still be there. It's never too late.

message 20: by Barbara (new)

340071 And, I'll definitely still be there to talk about it.

message 21: by Wilhelmina (new)

1010541 I'm right there with you, Capitu. I am reading this book unusually slowly, and I also avoided the discussion. We'll have the benefit of everyone's insights when we finally finish!
