Mike, Thanks so much for taking a look at my websites. It's a relief to know that someone else has the same kinds of traffic patterns that I have on my sites!

2551094 Hi K.A.,
You did a great job with both sites and I see the same results with my two sites- the book site gets three times the traffic my personal site gets. Personally, I'm okay with that; the book is really where I want the focus to be. If someone wants to know more about me, that's a plus. Having both sites is a good thing for internet exposure and the more links to each the better.
BTW- it looks like a very cute book! Best of luck with it.
Mike

2998544 My children's early reader, BAIT FOR LUNCH, released in July of 2009. I put together a book website at http://www.baitforlunch.com and my author's website at http://www.kaokagaki.com

I purchased the domain names, but redirect them to free sites on Wordpress. I used templates to create both sites.

While the book website gets a fair amount of traffic, my author's site does not. It could be that my name is too hard to remember how to spell, or because the site isn't interesting enough. Any suggestions on what I can do to improve it?

Thanks!

2973706 I recently redesigned my author website. Originally it was a traditional group of web pages, but I've transitioned it to a wordpress site. It's a lot more flexible for me to configure on my own, allowing for easy daily updates.

I use pages for book excerpts and serialized fiction and the blog to alert subscribers when I update. Of course, the welcome post with links to my recently released book stays stickied at the top of the page!!

I'd love any and all feedback from everyone here as I've only been writing for a year and I'm flying by the seat of my pants when it comes to all the business of writing.

If you'd like to visit my site it's at:

2331666 I use Wix.com. It's a great site. The basic package is free. I've made a main website and three others that connect to my published books and works in progress. They have terrific flash capabilities. Takes just a little getting use to to make one, but there are templates. I took a lot of templates and just rearranged them with my own. I love Wix. Highly recommend it.

Main site:

http://www.wix.com/ThePhantomsLessons/Vi...

Companion Sites:

http://thepriceofinnocence.com/

http://www.wix.com/ThePhantomsLessons/Le...

http://wix.com/ThePhantomsLessons/Vallet...

I also made a partner site for authors to post their books, if you're interested and fall into the category of individuals I'm looking for. I hope you enjoy this as well.

That's wonderful news about the contract! I stopped over to the web site and it is very well put together. I'm sure you'll have nothing short of a brilliant success with your book.

2802485 Hi all,

I just wanted to share my blog at http://juleswellesley.blogspot.com
with everyone. To Sheryl, who posted above, I think your contest idea (winner gets to be a character in the next book) is brilliant! Maybe you could let people choose whether they'd like to be a hero or villain...

Cheers,
Jules

Gina, what a beautiful and informative website!
I have a little problem reading the font, it might be my eyes: the 'Biog' link to me looks like 'Blog' so I was searching for your bio in vain;) If I were you, I would change it to 'Bio' so people with less acute vision can find it easier.
Otherwise, nothing but praise.

Hi David,
nice website, clear and consise! I like the way the excerpt is presented, very stylish. I have only one question: why no links page? A links page with reciprocal links to relevant websites is good for your Google ranking. Personally, I also like the way we can use links pages for mutual support, it's win-win for everyone!
Good luck with your novel! Best, Wendy

796624 Gina - Your website is beautiful and interesting. I loved the Japanese prints and the information about them.

My one thought is if the Japanese prints is the main page, I would consider placing a little of your biography at the beginning so viewers know whom the website belongs.

1515960 I've just updated my web site and added a section about old Japan. I was thinking about the things that get me interested in a site, and generally I'll go back if there's interesting info about the background to a book, or the era a book is about... being a mad history nut and all. Anyway, here's my updated section:

I'm kind of a little of it all. I look at my site as being "My Site," and like to post whree to find me on the net (social networks), give updates like blogs and latest news, I have a Meebo chat that I use when I'm sheduling chat days, a suggest reads section that really is nothing more than a Shelfari shelf lol.

But all in all, it's my site to promote Me and My Work.
